I am feeling dejected after posting a discussion on mylot

I have recently posted a discussion topic on mylot only to find that a discussion topic on same topic, with exactly the same title already existed on mylot. Although I had not copied the title nor the subject, I am feeling quite dejected. Other mylotters might give me a negative rating when they notice that I have posted exact copy of discussion. What should I do?

This happens at times and is inevitable with over 90,000 members all posting at the same time. If you didn't copy it, you have nothing to fear but if you want it withdrawn, then write to Mylot and ask them to delete it, because I did that once and they're quite helpful in Admin. Then, you can maybe change it around a bit, alter the title and post again... that way there will be no upset and no animosity between you and the other guy. I hope this helps... Brightest Blessings.

Thanks for sharing that Darkwing. I didn't know that requesting deletion was an option. Good advice!

I think you've done all you can by posting this, and letting people know that you didn't do it on purpose. You might get some negative ratings on that other thread, but there's not a lot you can do about it other than post a comment there apologizing as well. I think next time you should probably search before posting, but I don't think anyone always does that. I certainly don't always do it. I think really in any forum with this many people, such things are going to happen, and there's not a lot you can do.

thanks four your suggestion. I would definitely search for the topics already available on mylot, the next time i am going to post a discussion. In this way, I hope to get rid of this issue. Thanks a lot, once again.

You cannot change that now, and I for one would not give you a negative, if it did not look as if you did it on purpose. If you were word for word the same as the whole other discussion, and you posted second, I would report you. In the future make sure you are as unique as you can be. With this many members it is hard not to find some accidental duplication. It is the word for word copy paste that is so bad.

Hello Ranjeetkolarkar, I think it was very noble of you to post this discussion explaining the duplication. I know that I submitted a topic once that was prompted by a recent news story. Although I checked for other posts on the same topic, I saw that none proposed quite the same take on the story that mine did. So, I posted the question. Then I made a point to respond to the other questions on the topic, where I also expressed my hopes that the different angle that I presented about the story didn't offend the other poster. This gesture seemed to be taken well, as one of the others sent a 'friend' request. Of course, it is also very possible that two members will submit a similar topic at the same time. In either case, I believe you have taken the necessary steps to show your intention as honorable by posting this thread. Not to worry! This kind of thing does happen.

Hello ranjeetkolarkar, dont feel dejected. Everyone has almost the same topic and it probably just accidental that there is another similar topic to yours. Just post another. I have encountered similar incident. Sure it hurts but what else can we do. So just keep on posting. Be creative and be a writer.

Don't get dejected. Feel free to post discussions. It will be good if you post things on latest happenings and any innovative topics. But it is better for you to post 2-5 discussions a day and give more responses. So there will be always good topics for you also. Try responding more...

I don't think you have to do anything. It happens a lot. It's just coincidence or synchronicity or something. I don't know why everybody gets so upset about it. If you really feel you must do something, I suppose you could post an answer on the other thread and tell the person who put it up what happened.

You have done the honorable thing by posting this discussion here. You did not mean to post a discussion with the same topic. There are a lot of people that come here and there is bound to be some discussions that run along the same thread. Don't get down in the dumps about it. You have done your best to let us know that it was not done intentional and we all understand.

You didn't mean to do it, don't worry nothing will happen to you, or at least I hope nothing will.
