Well as a few friends of mine have just been laid off. As I told them to look at it in a positive way, this is an opportunity for change and to go in a different direction. An opportunity to educate themselves on the lasted technology or a different career path being laid off does not have to be a bad thing. It is just a minor adjustment.

I was recently laid off from a job after only a few months when the company downsized. The company moved me several hundred miles just a few months earlier and then laid off 75% of its workforce. Needless to say, I was pretty upset, but there was really nothing I could do about it. I found another job in the area and just dealt with it as best as I could. A few of the people I worked with were very angry and bitter about it and still are looking for work now. I try to keep upbeat even in the face of adversity.

I work for my city and their always cutting down on staff. I've never been totally laid off, but I've had my hours cut way down. Well, all you can really do about it is find another job or do work for an outside company. That's all you really can do about it. There's very few jobs with job security out there and most people will have to deal with layoffs. So, I say, just keep plugging along.
