Who else still has tapes sitting around collecting dust?

Do you still have VHS and cassette tapes? I was just going through my paypal history and it turns out I bought 3 VHS videos in 2002 through eBay that I think I might have just given away recently through Freecycle. There are a few movies I have on VHS that I’m going to keep until I can afford them on DVD, but then I’d like to get rid of the entire collection and just keep my VCR to watch old home movies or the odd VHS tape that I find. I have no more cassette tapes and am actually getting rid of most of my CDs (except those by my favorite artists and ones that are signed). My parents not only still have massive cassette and VHS tape collections and only a few DVDs, but my dad still has an entire cabinet FULL of vinyl RECORDS! :)

I have a great many VHS tapes, some I don't care much about but there is some I would miss greatly. I have found that I can fast forward and rewind these tapes a couple of times before I play them and it will help keep them from sticking or hanging up, or whatever they do. I know my sister in law transfered all of her home VHS onto cd disc, and I will be looking into how to do this sometime soon.

I have a ton of cassette music tapes that I occasionally go through, but rarely listen to any more. I never really collected movies, so I don't have a lot of VHS movie tapes, but I do have a lot of tapes with things I recorded over the years. I've also thrown quite a few out, too. I still use my VHS tapes to record TV shows, etc.

My hubby and I are in the same boat as your parents. We have numerous VHS and Cassette Tapes. My hubby has boxes of vinyl records and we even have some of the 45 records. A few years ago we had and oldies but good party and used the vinyl and 45 records for decorations throughout the house. It was just awesome. We had a best costume contest, a best oldie dance contest, played family jeopardy and let the kids break open a Pinata. We had loads of fun. So don't get rid of the entire collection, save some of them and have a party.
