How Do You Scare Away WOODPECKERS?

We have the stupidest woodpeckers around, They don't tap the trees for food. Oh no!, they tap our gutters, and it echo's throughout the house. Not exactly the sound I care to wake up to at 5:30 in the morning.... I must run out threre screaming at him at least 5 times during the day, I was hoping he would get frustrated and go to someone elses house. But no! I think he thinks it's a game, and he just wont leave . . . Any ideas on how to get rid of this annoying alarm clock?

Oh my! Maybe you should plant a tree for him to mess with. Have you tried hanging wind chimes in that area to scare him away?

I live in the woods, LOTS of trees . . . I just put a fake bird out on the post that he likes, maybe he'll be intimitaded by the compition. Don't know but it's worth a try . . .

hi all4ucnc point him towards some trees then scare him away, I would think after he bashs his beck on a rain gutter a few times he would look for a real tree instead of coming up without any bugs. poor bird.
