How to stop cursing?

I was raised in a family who cursed a lot.Well my parents punsihed us for it,but they also cursed. At school i learned all new bad words and stuff.Back then i didn't believed in God.Now i do and i hate it when the pastors wife gets "mad" it's not really mad but she gets upset when i curse or say a word like sh*t( i don't think that's a bad word or jurk, but she thinks it is) Everytime when i say a bad word it;s like she smells it.One time i said jurk to someone and she just opened the window of her car and heard me saying it. Problem is that i've learned it easily but i can't get rid of it because i always curse when i'm angry or when people curse a lot like at work. Is there anyone who knows how i can deal with this cursing so i can stop it?

Have you prayed for the Holy Spirit to give you a clean mouth? That is what I do when I have a problem with an undesirable habit. That's how I quit smoking. I pray for the Holy Spirit to take the habit away. It will take some time so keep praying about it and maybe get some one in the church to pray with you about it. Some one you feel close to and that you can trust. Your Pastor's wife is not acting very christian like but forgive her she dosent know what she is doing. Pray for her too.

Thanks i'll definately will try it i've never done that before.Pastor's wife she's like a Christian who was raised like one so for her it's way easier not to curse and also she doesn't have experienced the hard things i've experienced in life. But that wouldn't be a reason to curse. It'll be fine in the end.It just takes some time.

may of those that were raised by Christian parents do have a harder time relating to us that have been at the bottom. We just need to be patient with them and our selves as we work to become more Christ like.

I will give you a little practic advise .... Try to listen yourself. And when you are up to say something like sh*t ... then just say another strange word but not sh*t:) Not after long you will be able to control your mouth. And if you see that you can't do it by yourself then ask The holy Spirit to clean your mouth:)

Yes that's a great idea.I had a friend who did that once he made instead of a bad word a very long sentence and that sentence was so long that he got irritated by it so he didn't cursed ever anymore.I'll give it a shot, but i have to remember the replacement word ^_^.

My parents didn't curse, but I got into the habit of it in adulthood. When I had kids, I decided I needed to stop, and I did so by choosing replacement words for typical curses. I think it's important to have SOMETHING to yell out, for those times when you stub your toe, or are surprised. It just took a few weeks of practice, and I completely dropped curse words from my vocabulary.

That sounds like a good idea. I didn't write them down, but I think writing might help get them stuck in your head faster. Good luck with your plan.

Did you also write them down? So that you could remember the replacement words? It's really fast to get rid of the cursing within a few weeks. Well i'm gonna try everything i can and when i got rid of cursing i'll let you all know.

I understand. My dad cursed a lot and still does. He is so angry and bitter. It's sad. Ask the Lord to help you and He will. Admit that you say things you shouldn't and He will forgive you and give you the strength to stop saying those kinds of words. I know a lot of it is habit. God can release you from this bad habit! He can release you from your sins! He is so good! God loves you and He has an awesome plan for your life. Ask God to show you where He wants you to be in life and trust in Him in all things. He will show you the way! God bless you!

Thanks for your reply.Maybe that's the solution.Because i did pray for it,but maybe i must be more specific in my prayers or i have to pray in some other way than i do.And maybe i should let it go after i've prayed for.
