Too Old to Breastfeed???

How old do you think is too old for a child to breastfeed?? In some countries it is very normal to breastfeed until the age of 6 or 7! In my mind though I think it is too old to still breastfeed. I breastfed my daughter until she was a year I would've gone longer but she did fine drinking her milk from a sippy cup. My ultimate goal for breastfeeding was for the first year and I am happy I did that for her. The oldest I can imagine breastfeeding as for myself would be 2 years old. I know many mothers go to 3 or 4 years of age and that is okay for some mommies, but to me 7 year seem to be too old. What age do you think is too old? What are your opinions on this?

i would say as soon as they start eating real solid food pretty reg. I know that when you first start them on solids they still need milk as part of their reg diet. i would say untill about ages 1 1/2 to 2.

I don't think it's harmful to be nursed until 6 or 7, but 3 is about the limit of my personal comfort zone. I do recognize that it's just my comfort zone, though. I do wonder, maybe unfairly, if moms who nurse past 4 or 5 aren't discouraging individuation and encouraging the kids to keep going when the child might be ready to wean.
