What can I do to this garden?

This is my garden in Crete. As you can see it is just a lump of bare earth at the moment and requires a lot of work. It slopes away from the front of the house to the wall and is approx 6m x 15m. Any ideas as to what I could do to this would be much appreciated, I don't even know what plants would grow in the Mediteranean climate having experience (limited) in the UK. Any help would be much appreciated.

Humm, if possible clean it out , and plant a wild flower garden. Something that blends in with the rest of the landscape. I'm not sure what plants would grow well in yor climate. You may want to check with your local Florist on that, or garden center.

Thats sort of what I was thinking about doing but it seems that most of our neighbours have the same idea. We are thinking of planting more fruit trees and hopefully gaining some shade from them for those less sun loving plants, but not sure about watering a garden like this. Thanks for the comments.
