I love to hear someone play violin, too.
I learned to play the violin several years ago but left it and now, I can not play it at all. So sad.
In the past, I used to hear a few master violists.
This is the musical instrument that has the highest number of actaves.

Violin is an instrument which makes a very mellow music and at times it can be louder too. I like the mellow music, when the violin is played melodiously.
The musical instrument is normally used with karnatic vocal along with mridangam. It sounds nice with mridangam. The jugalbandhi or 'Thaniyavarthanam" as is popularly known is a treat to ears.
Hear it to beleive it.

I am learning the instrument, and the way I play most of the time lacks the quality of even an average player. I still need to teach my ear when my bowing is at an angle instead of perpendicular to the strings, when I have too little pressure, when I have too much, when I am bowing too slowly or too fast ... not to mention when my left hand lands on a place that is totally wrong.
When I can focus on one thing I'm not too bad but playing a song you have to focus on many things, and do everything all at once. That is the one thing I need to learn to become an adequate player.

yes, i love it when i hear somebody play the violin. there is some magic that only the violin has when it plays some music. i can notice how not only the ears are glued to the music it plays, even the eyes are glued to the instrument and the one who plays it.

I love the violin and it's funny, I was just watching 'Little House' but Charles didn't play in this one.
My ex-husband played the violin and was in several concerts in Los Angles when he was young. He was very good!

The violin is one of the instruments that is most soothing. However, it must be played with feeling and love for the instrument. I prefer the classical violin but always loved to hear the fiddle played in the good old days of hillbilly music. The Irish also play a mean fiddle as well. Most people have difficulty discerning the difference between the two but once you learn to like both there is no problem in distinguishing them. My favorit violinist is Isaac Stern (the one who played the music for the movie Fiddler or the Roof). Another great artist of the 20th century was Jascha Heifetz. In the last 10 years a young chinese girl arrived on the scene and proved a magnificent classifcal violinist and...if I am not mistaken....also tried her had on moderng popular music. Wish I could remember her name. Sorry

The violin is bittersweet for me. My first love played it, and taught me how to play it, and he is now no longer in this world. So when I hear the violin, I feel that it is beautiful, amazing, wonderful, sweet,... and sad.
Sometimes when I am in a really bad mood, I will listen to the violin and cry, for hours. And then, I'll feel cleansed and ready to face the world. =)

When we had a family reunion he would play the violin and we all dance to it like sqaure dance it was lots of fun and now time has gone by and I don't hear the violin like I used to I was hoping that my daughter would take violin lessons but she wasn't interested oh well I miss those days.

I love to hear the violin played, it is relaxing and soothing when played properly. I once had a neighbour whose child was learning to play and it sounded awful but its all a learning process and when i saw her mom a few months back I heard that she is doing really well and now plays for money so it was definately worthwhile.
