Lately, I am having problems sleeping, my legs are aching when I lay down and I toss and turn until late before I can get any sleep. I really need a remedy other drugs, warm milk, tea and I don't drink alcohol. I dislike all of them. Do you think there maybe something wrong with my legs they mainly ache at night.

Try setting up a regular routine; something that you do every night to get you ready for sleep. Make sure your bedroom is condusive to restful sleep. Soft music is good to sleep by set on a timer to turn off after an hour or so. I have a routine. I do up any glasses or bowls in the sink. I wipe down the counter, I get my jammies on, check the doors and windows and turn the bed down. It's a part of setting my mind up to let it know it's night night time. I fluff my large pillows then get a glass of milk or hot tea (decaffinated) and sip on my choice of beverage while reading a chapter of a book or, in most cases, reading scripture. I'm very soon relaxed to the point that I know I'm ready to lay down. If I feel like I'm going to have trouble sleeping I take a benadryle. If I can't sleep at all, I put my headphones on and listen to talk radio. It's usually so boring the constant lull of voices puts me right out. If all else fails I get on my computer and begin to write. It's just another one of those "go with it" things. As long as there are no problems that keep my brain from calming down, I'm usually ready to sleep after an hour or two. Do you know what RLS is? Restless Leg Syndrome. You might need to visit your doctor for a checkup.

It begins as a strange feeling in your legs that seems to get worse until you stand up and move around. Deep inside your legs you can feel burning, creeping, and crawling sensations that are hard to describe, even to your doctor. If your back is hurting too, you could be experiencing other problems. Sitting in front of a computer all day in a chair that doesn't fit your body well, standing or walking a lot, shoes that don't fit, or maybe your spine is out of adjustment. Stress (like you have been experiencing lately) could be another cause of discomfort in your body. How else does stress manifest itself than by showing up as pain in the body. It could be kidney problems, or a number of things darlin'. Best to have it checked out.

I can always count on you for a decent response to my discussion, I like your routine but it is more that pain than me not being sleepy. I get tired automatically but the pain in my back and legs are hurting more and more each day. I am going to the doctor everyone says I should because the pain is increasing. Do you know the RLS symptons?

have you considered trying compression stockings? they are used for people with circulatory, vascular, diabetes problems, but really are helpful to relax the leg muscles, I sleep much better with them on. You can get them in lengths that go up to the knee from places like walmart. to my surprise they do not carry them in the pharmaceuticals but in with the trouser socks. they run just under $5 a pair

I didn't think of those thank you I will try them, I go to Walmart all the time and I would've thought to look in the sock department either. Thank you for the suggestion.

I'd recommend either flipping your mattress or getting a new one. My boyfriend and I suffered from the same problem and we recently bought a nice, soft mattress and now both of us are no longer sore in the middle of the night.

Do you ever heard about YOGA. It is very famous therapy in my country. This therapy is based on mainly positioning your body and to relax... You may try it out.... Just search on internet and start practicing YOGA... BEST OF LUCK!!!

I don't want to take sleeping pills, I am having back and leg pain and I don't think they would help with that. But thank you anyway.

I don't know if I can help or not, but I will try. Maybe you could try massageing your legs to relax them while you lay in bed. Start with your feet & work your way up your legs, also using lotin is soothing as well, so your hands will glide over the skin. After doing this I would elevate the legs, and use a heating pad to try and help soothe them, perhaps the muscles will relax. Maybe soaking your feet first to loosen tension might help. I find that sometimes in the morning I wake up with tired legs. Sometimes it feels like I never went to bed. My legs start to feel weak when I get out of bed. There are also times when I work out & my legs feel weak and I don't get a good workout. I hope you will feel better soon.
