Missing British Girl

Have you read or seen news reports of a missing 4 year old British girl? She is missing in Portugal where her and her family were on vacation. There is a million dollar reward for her safe return. There is a story on AOL about it today and she has been missing 11 days now. She was asleep in a hotel room or some sort of apartment with her twin brothers/sisters(age 2) while her parents were 100 yards away in a restaurant. It says that they were checking on them periodically. Anyway, my question is why would you as a parent go away from your children ages 2 and 4 and leave them alone especially in a strange place. Don't you think that they should be held accountable for her being kidnapped too? This infuriates me as there are so many people that as parents don't think about the consequences of their actions until the child is missing or dead. It is our job to protect them and I don't see how periodically checking on them was protecting them as they should not have been left alone eveen for a minute.

I have heard about the news. For me, I wouldn't leave my daughter on her own, especially somewhere that I am not familiar with. I think the parents have learned a big lesson. Now we only prey the girl can be returned to her parents' arms safely. God bless!

What a way to learn a lesson. I believe that it is too late for them to be sorry for leaving her alone. I just hope that she is returned safely. (By the way, I love your avatar!)

I cant begin to imagine the agony of mind that this poor couple are going through. It is a parents worse nightmare. No doubt they have berated their actions since that sad day. They have paid a very heavy price.I do agree with you that chidren of that age cant be left unattended.

I imagine that they have had regrets about leaving those kids alone, but the report that I seen it looked as though they were having fun with the other two. If I were them, I would find family that could take the twins for now and I would be looking nonstop for my kids.

I understand were you are coming from. They might be being advised to spend time with the other children to help the siblings cope. Also they will have to work hard to keep this situation in the public eye, and the media working hard. Once the story starts to slip in the news they will have even more problems. Its nearly a fortnight now they dont want it to be last months news the more high profile it is the better chance of getting a solution.

Unfortunately many parents are really careless. They loose their children in the stores, in the parks, have low or no control and later blame themselves if somebody bad happens. And the news show kidnapping regularly:-(

Bing careless is not leaving your child unattended in a hotel room. That is just wrong!!

I agree they should have been protecting the kids and not left alone. It sounds like somebody was watching and knowing the parents left the kids there and took one but then again the kid may have woke up and wonder around looking for her parents. This is really a sad thing and it shouldn't have happened in the first place. The parents could have order the food and ate at the hotel while the kids are asleep. I would never ever do that to my child. Hope they find her and it's been 11 days now. Thanks for the updates.

I agree with you on this. I also have wondered if she woke up and wandered off looking for the parents and just wandered around. It looks as though someone would have seen her if that was the case and that dogs could have picked up her scent as I am sure that they use search dogs. Anyway, I think that the parents should at least be charged with neglect and I believe that if that were here in the states that the other two kids would have been taken from them by now.

Yes I heard about her being kidnapped, I am in disbelief that her parents would dare to leave her and her brother alone. Her parents should be ashamed at there lack of judgement towards how they care for there kids. I would never ever leave my kids alone for a minute, there are so many people that are messed up in the head these days. God forbid if she isnt found I dont know how they can live with themselves knowing it was ulimately there fault for her being kidnapped. I also heard on the news that some of the celebrity stars who are "wealthy" from Brittain had used there own money towards the reward for finding her. Stars such as David Beckham, J.K Rowling, Simon Cowell have all donated alot of money to help in the effort to find her...but I have never heard of that happening in the United States. I live here in the United States and I never knew any celebrities to put there own money up to help find a missing kid...except maybe John walsh. Either way I am so glad that people in brittain actually care about this innocent little girl. My prayers are with her..I hope she is found alive and well. We should all say a prayer for her!

I agree with you that we should pray for her and I did when I read it and then I talked with my kids aboutit and we prayed for her. My 16 year old was shocked that parents would leave a 4 year old and two 2 year olds alone for any length of time. However, it does show that the Britians care about the children as the stars here would never do such a thing . It was neat to read that Simon put the money up. He comes across as so cold hearted at times on Idol and then to read this makes you look at him in a different light. I personally like Simon anyway!
