Menopause and Premenopause: Soothing Cures

I was having a chat with my sister about her menopausal symptoms last week. I wish she'd asked me about it sooner - I'm premenopausal, and have done the research to make sure that I don't suffer like I've seen others do.
Sis mentioned that she'd bought the soy isoflavones, but hadn't taken them yet. She's suffering so badly - hot flashes, shivering, moodiness - all the classics.
What astonished me is that she hadn't taken the very simple step of popping a single soy isoflavone pill with her vitamins in the morning!
It would have saved her months of suffering.
So why do we complain and do nothing? I've heard the same story over and over again - "I'm suffering, I hate it, but I haven't done anything!"
There are so many simple solutions - see your doctor, ask about hormone replacement, if it's for you, or not?
Look up soy products on the Internet, and learn how they can help you for very little money!
Research menopause and herbal remedies on the web! Learn about your condition, and do something natural for yourself!
I did note that she couldn't take an all-women's remedy that she had bought because it contained Black Cohosh, which sometimes reacts with other medications. She's right - you have to read all the ingredients and make sure a remedy is safe for you.
For instance - if you're allergic to peanuts, then soy isoflavones may not be for you! But really - if you can take them, try them for a while. The soy acts like an "omni-hormone" -- whatever hormone you're lacking, the soy will mimic and fix the problem. It really does work.

I am premenopausal myself, mom says at least another ten before it actually fixes what is wrong-- I suffer from a non-cancerous left ovarian cyst that I thought was basically eliminated by a similar chemical cryogenic procedure back in 1992 when I was bleeding profusely from a rather extended cycle. I was told the 'endometriosis', supposedly curtailed by the Ortho Novum/ LoEstrin birth control pills I was prescribed for a symptom of irregularity and heavy cramping, had developed into a rather uncomfortable sized cyst. It was not in danger of rupturing just causing pain via strangulation of the ovary and fallopian tube it rested on, so it was plucked, siphoned or whatever they could do to eliminate some of the pain.
Within two years of bc's and intolerable pain through 1995, I was seemingly fine gynecologically, physically and psychologically and the cyst symptoms disappeared. Little did I know that it was still present until about three years ago. When I made the choice to abort my last child that under no circumstances would have survived should I have continued with the pregnancy, it was discovered that my ovary and fallopian tube had scar tissue that was creating a thickening. Rather than going the traditional birth control method route, I opted for researching soy and isoflavins. Loved what I found so I drank as much as I could stand.
A few years later the cyst was very large, 6.7775cm and finally ruptured in June of 2006--the main cause for my system was adding soy to an already deficient Progesterone level and rapidly increasing Estrogen level which fed the cyst daily. Cysts feed on this stuff if you are me, AB+ blood type, slim, 5'5", don't begin eating till two hours after waking up, no longer consumes any white, processed sugar (only raw cane, the better sugar), and is generally pretty active.
I appreciate your post and thank you for sharing,

Wow, Soujournseeker, that was awesome! Yes, I take soy to reduce the symptoms of fibroids (I have a large uterine fibroid that has currently stopped growing due to my soy use. Thankfully I don't have the usual symptoms (heavy bleeding, urinary pressure) so I feel comfortable with what I'm doing to reduce its size.
I, too have stopped use of processed sugar. It's a simple thing to cut it out of your diet if you enjoy "real" food.
Desserts I can live without for my own comfort!
So glad you shared with us. I'm sure there are more of us out there who would love to read more...let's make this a place to share info and experiences like you did!

Oh thank god that I haven't any serious problems...I'm in my menopausal stage of life as well....but nothing dramatic,..at least not what you described has happened to me--In fact, you'll laugh at this..it was about two years ago...I must have been having a real authentic genuine time of it of the hot flashes and drenching sweats..and it was in the middle of February to boot...Now years previously I had talked to a woman who was describing her symptoms...she said she was so uncomfortable with the hot flashes that she wanted to peel her own skin off, have the air-conditioner on even in winter..when she told me this I thought oh, gosh, she just must be exaggerating--until I got them...yikes...BUT --it only happened that one night...haven't had a bout since...gee, must have good genes or something--if I did have a rough time of it though, I'd use a natural aid too, you couldn't give me a million dollars to use hormonal replacement therapy medications-and what get cancer later??

yeh people can be funny, I was put on to Apple cider vinegar in water for my very bad three day headaches, while I wa on this I never got a headache which all the girls in my family seem to suffer, only me and my sister would take a smalldrink of this in the mornings rather than suffer with theae horrible headaches but other members of the family prefered to suffer the headaches...people are funny.
