When you grill meat as fine as filet mignon, all you need is a little
salt and pepper. Serve it with grilled potatoes or corn on the cob. This
is a really special meal for a Mother's Day celebration.
Serves: 4
Prep. time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 11 to 13 minutes
- Four 8-ounce filet mignon steaks, each about 3/4 inch thick
- olive oil, for brushing
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 red bell pepper, grilled and thinly sliced, for garnish
- 1 yellow bell pepper, grilled and thinly sliced, for garnish
Prepare a charcoal or gas grill so that the coals are medium-hot. Spray
the grilling grate lightly with nonstick vegetable spray.
Brush each filet with olive oil and then sprinkle generously with salt
and pepper.
Grill over the medium-hot coals for 11 to 13 minutes, turning once
during grilling, for medium-rare meat. Take care when turning the meat
to position it on the grill so that it takes on grilling marks.
Turn the steaks with tongs, not a fork, to prevent juices from escaping.
Transfer the meat to a cutting board and let it rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
Serve 1 steak per person, garnished with thinly sliced grilled red and
yellow peppers.

I would appreciate this meal. Fillet Mignon is a sopecial treat. I would keave off the salt, but add lots of pepper. Adding bell peppers is a new idea for me.
Thanks for recipe.

It sounds beautiful, and delicious. When you prepare your steaks at home, you get the best. Garnishing with the peppers adds vitamin C and a special sweet smoky flavor. I will come to dinner with you.LOL

You've just played my song! :)
No excellent piece of meat need to be over cooked or over spiced, and I like that recipe, so I'm gonna try it soon! :)
