My left foot is swollen from the ankle down (though not so obvious): its not painful and i can still wear my shoes. But what could be responsible please?

You twisted your ankle? Broke a bone in your foot? Are experiencing lymph problems, and the lymph is draining into your foot? You walked more than you usually do, and are favoring that foot? You were bitten by an insect or exposed to something that you are allergic to? I suggest that you raise your foot as much as possible and stay off your fett (keeping your leg raised even while sitting) until you can see your doctor. If it is a lymphatic problem, you will have to get a support stocking, and possibly take medication to prevent it from happening again.

None of this happened. Just suspecting tight shoes and sitting for too long. My job involves sitting always, what can i do to avoid swelling on my foot.

this could be a result of water retention or a result of you wearing tight socks or shoes. However, it could also be a symptom of something much more serious and is certainly worth a trip to the dr to get it checked out blessed be

Thanks so much for your response. Don't think its water-retention. Suspect tight shoes.

I could be that you had twisted your foot.Or else you mighthave wore shoes which were defective & did not fitted you.If that not the case than there must have been internal problems in your body for which water has accumulated in foot. This water retention is caused by mny reasons.I advice you to consult a doctor immediately.
