GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - The Canadian Forces pilot killed in a Snowbirds jet crash during rehearsal for weekend performances at Malmstrom Air Force Base was to be married next month in Montreal, the unit's commanding officer said Saturday. Capt. Shawn McCaughey, 31, of Candiac, Quebec, died Friday afternoon when his jet - flying upside down in a four-plane formation - broke from the cluster of Snowbirds and hurtled 300 feet to the ground. http://www.mylot.com/w/newsarticle/230033.aspx Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper called McCaughey "a positive role model and goodwill ambassador who truly personified the professionalism and dedication of all the women and men who make up our Canadian Forces." This is another sorry air tragedy. This time the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Just recently a Blue Angel was killed doing his job also. Let's all pray for Capt. Shawn's family and loved ones in this time of sorrow. It's a shame when one so great in life loses his life as such. God be with the whole family, and The Canadian Forces also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Sobering thoughts, such fine young people losing their lives. I am sure that many people are praying for his loved ones. That boy is just a year older than my son. Do they know anything about the cause? I do pray for requests here at myLot when I see them, this is not just an empty response, but comes with all the compassion I have for that family.

Good on you Grandpa Bob. This news is just too devastatingly sad. I feel so sorry for his family and co-workers. It's hard to understand how these sorts of accidents can occur with a precision flying team. Peace be with you.
