If I were to come into your home would I know you were Pagan? Do you decorate your house with religous/spiritaul items? Or do you keep your home plain? Are you afraid of others finding out that you are Pagan or are you just not interested? I have several pagan altars and displays around my house, as well as a lot pf Pagan books in my living room.

very interesting topic, as i probably wouldn't know even if your house was decorated accordingly. lol. first of all, i'm a man so i'm not that observant. secondly, i don't really know what pagan, wiccan, or other religions' symbols are. i am a non religious, but spiritual christian. that is, i believe but don't "practice" it. i don't attend any church. i don't thump people with my bible. i just try to live how i think my god would want me to live. you would not know that i even believe by entering my house as i don't display religious symbols. i once knew a girl that was wiccan, and it did interest me, but she never really got into it much with me. thanks for letting me share.

i like your style :) i don't parade any religion, i keep my belief pretty much to myself as most people..pagan or christian or other would disagree with me...i call myself a hybrid i'm a hybrid in religion just like my ancestors moved to america and procreated with different races making me a mutt (as are most people in the united states).

and yours as well. it is true that the majority of us americans are mutts. the only true americans are the native americans. the rest of us all have a little mixed blood.

You would know I was Pagan. If from nothing else, from the books that lay pretty much everywhere. My home isn't all that decorated one way or another right now except with my son's toys, but there are definitely things about it that are Pagan. One thing that helps is the fact that there are Ogham sticks with wards on them at the entrance and some of the windows. Of course, some people probably wouldn't understand what Ogham is, but they would wonder about the strangely notched sticks everywhere I think. I am very open with the fact that I am Pagan, at home, at work, everywhere basically. Well, when I say at work, I mean among my coworkers more so than customers. But many of my customers have found out I am Pagan by seeing me outside of work, or asking about the necklace I sometimes wear which I explain politely has a depiction of a Celtic Goddess on it.

I don't have religious stuff in my house, apart from a mini statue of Buddha which I think looks pretty. Paganism is interesting I think, though I know little about it. If anything I am a Christian, but I have no Christian iconagraphy, pictures of statues around my house! I am Irish and I detest the statues of Mary etc that litter the place - they seem very oppressive.

I have a very pretty pentagram on the wall in my front porch, and I also have a small pentagram hanging on a wind chime. I don't really mind if people know I am pagan, I'm already known as the local neighbourhood wierdo :-)

i remember doing tai chi in my garden once and i am on an alley way. i heard these little footsteps running to the end. i realised one had stopped and then heard this little voice talking to the others 'mystic meg is at it in her garden' bless

probably. you'd get to the front door, and probably not notice the Witches bottle buried beneath the step, but you would notice my seasonally decorated wreath. I change the greenery throughout the year. i made it one yule, and didn't want to take it down. it's a pentagram fashioned of birch stems and copper wire. a large cauldron beside the door holds flowers. into the porch you may notice a charm bag and hagstones hung in the eaves. itno the kitchen, you will find there are a few pestle and mortars. not so very strange, apart from the glass pestle with unfinished ends. although you may not know that this is a traditional tool in Witchcraft. knitting needles of glass with unfinished ends are another tool you may see lurking in my house if I've set them down somewhere. there is a spare teapot to the standard one. in the Window is the first of the Witch balls you will see in my home. like a large christmas tree ball, to reflect ill wishing back away from the home. you may also spot a clip framed card showing an illustration of three Witches in a forest around a cauldron. the caption below reads "an evening with friends" I have a few of this artists greetings cards clip framed, as the pictures are very charming. others show bats, badgers, hares, greyhounds (all creatures I love) in a variety of cute situations. above the kettle, is a wall hanging where we keep the keys. its a gentle face in the sun with it's hands cupped in front. above the rayburn, depending on the time of year, there may well be herbs drying. maybe a few more herbs than usual in our cupboards. walking past our stairs into the living room you may spot some ceramic plaques on the wall, one grrn man face, one Goddess Sconce, with in it's little hollow, a few bird skulls we've found, and some pretty feathers. into the living room where the window also has a Witch ball. the windowsill is home to some very dramatic candleholders shaped like a sort of three headed, feather winged dragony wyvern type thing. a very cute oil burner, three bats with outstretched wings supporting the dish. the fireplace is often something of an altar, with things placed around the hearth. there is no mantelshelf though. it's a very old cottage, and the fireplace is all stone. in another corner is an inverted corkscrew willow root, to look like a twisty tree with white fairylights wound through it as a lamp. the corner has another pot on the table, shaped like a Goddess image. if you have your suspicions at this point, the bookcase will cement it. up the stairs (past flying bat wall hangings, like ducks, but bats. I had to have them. - note this isn't a Witchy thing, I'm just obsessed with bats) each bedroom has a Witch ball. charm bags in the highest corners of the house. my room has a small altar, it's purpose is more than obvious. I have a traditional style besom hung above my window, and chage the feathers and ribbons on it according to need or season. there is something known as a spirit house. a willow woven ball, which hangs in a room, and has ribbons hanging down to feathers at the end. very pretty thing. the bathroom has more than its fair share of candles, and lots of lovely Lush goodies. got to care for the planet as well as the skin and hair. the sill to the small window often serves as a secondary altar. should you choose to come outside into the orchard you will see a tree decked in bright ribbons. this is the wishing tree. each ribbon is a wish. there is also a standing stone. one of the small stone outbuildings really has the look about it of a fairytale witches cottage. it has a green man and goddess of its own, a seating area with pretty bits of wood and stone dotted about. next to that is my herb garden. not all culinary, needless to say. an old tree stump, twists out from its corner, and is hung with glass drops. all in all, it looks pretty Witchy. we still get doorknockers.

if you walk out of my door you will see the runic symbol to stop invaders. i have corn hanging over the door to welcome friends. my rather large stones on the stairs for when i do my medicine wheel and plenty of sage and incense around the house and books on various topics that would make people wonder. i am not actually pagan when anyone asks i say between pagan/buddhist/shamanism as these are where i feel most at home. i love and honor the earth and i feel these 3 fill that criteria the best. my house is also adorned with many buddhas, quan yin, fairies, ganesh, shiva and many crystals and stones. i work for a christian charity so it is not something that i shout out loud although they employ anybody as the law says they have too. and some do know its just not talked about.

hhhmmm, thats an interesting question..I dont know if ppl would know or not...I mean if you were to really look around then yea I imagine you'd know but that would depend on the person too I suppose...I mean i have Pagan things out in the open but i'm not flamboyant about it ya know... I think the first thought that would come to mind is that my kids are very important to me...I have pics of all the kids up all over the place adn their drawings etc cover my fridge and corkboard and so on.... Am I afraid, LOL nope, never have been either...My spiritual path is a key componant in my life and somehing that is with me/a part of me and my daily living etc so even if I wanted to hide it it'd be pretty hard to do...Besides, if i ever feel tht someone coming into my home is goin to judge me to the point that i need to hide stuff, they have no place in my home or my life...I dont tolerate that sort of thing at all

My house isn't overly screaming paganism I would say but unless you didn't know much about anything then yeah you should pick up on it right away. I have certain books I have out in my living room instead of on my bookshelf, a crystal ball, a budda statue, a cool looking cross hanging on my wall, and various other things that let you know.

I think it would depend on how observant you are. The average person probably wouldn't know who the guy is in the wall hanging of Pan that's in my living room. My book collection is pretty eclectic and you'd need to really look to find the Pagan ones. You'd find some biblical, Buddhist & other spiritual books too, so I don't think one would assume any one in particular represented my spirituality anyway. It's not so much as to hide it from anyone. It's just personal & private to me, so it's not a part of my life I would choose to share with just anyone who came into my home.

Well coming into my home, first my husband or I would greet you LOL And you would get to see that we both wear a pentacle and that our oldest wears a celtic cross (he loves celtic). You would see incense around the house and as you approached the living room you would see the alter we have on top of the entertainment center (away from 17 month old fingers). My books are up out of reach due to the wee one however they aren't hidden. Coming through the hallway from the kitchen into the living room, you can smell different smells that have that distinctive essential oil smell--dragon's blood, wiccan alter oil and the link. We have smudge sticks lurking about as well. We don't hide who we are and to be honest, I am sure most of not all of the small community we live in would tell you that our house is 'where the witches live' and smile about it--they know who we are and what we are about and are just fine to have us as members of the community.

There are certain spiritual items in my house, but it's not on display. I am pagan as a way of life but not so much a religion. I believe that their is power out there, I believe we can focus that power, but I don't worship it beyond honoring it and appreciating it. I wear a pentagram, which I purposely set askew. For the most part though I dress and look normal. My books are spread out all over, some may be visible some not so.

"I don't worship it beyond honoring it and appreciating it" Yea i'm very much the same way...My spiritual path is an eclectic one (Witchcraft, Vodou, Buddhism and Native american spirituality) and I worship nothing and no-one but I most definately show my appreciation for certain things and I like to have certain objects visible as a reminder of the connection we all have or as a reminder of my strengths etc but there is no worshipping of anything goin on here LOL

You would know if we showed you. We have a whole room of our house that we call the Shrine Room with our Pagan items and a few Buddhist ones for my former spouse. We live in a militantly X-tian area in Florida so we try not to show that we're Pagan except to those we know are open to Paganism.

If you came to my home, you would see my altar in my bedroom. But you won't be able to tell that it's an altar, as the way I have it set up. I also have many pictures in my room, then again they are not overly noticeable to the eye. I also have many candles in my room, as well as incense. People look, but they really don't say anything lol:)

I am not Pegan, Wiccan or a Witch. I am still trying to find my path. Probably I will have some altars but I will keep them in my bedroom. My path/religion or beliefs are person. As for being afraid, nope. This is not the dark ages anymore and people are lucky to celebrate their religions and culture open without being afraid.

THIS is supposed to be a touching issue of our modern day and age?
