Come on, you know the show...TLC's 'What Not to Wear.' Stacy London is the female co-host of the show. There are rules galore about what men and women are to wear and not to wear. Have you watched the show? Do you follow the rules?! How has the show changed your way of dressing?

Yup, she is a bit over-confident and condenscending isn't she? I personally think that a lot of what she wears doesn't become her, but what do I know?

Stacy London....?! The freak with the gray streak in her hair? The one who never wears what she recommends that other women wear?
Oh, and what about her counterpart? He always wears the same "Thurston Howell III" shirt and pants and sneakers! His hairdo is passe! He's passe!
I hate the show.
Once in a blue moon the contestant learns to dress herself a little better.
The shows guide/coaches are in terrible taste and need to go back to school. They....oh, I want to say they s*ck, but it's worse than that.
They're...cliched!!!!!

HaHa! You sound just like my husband! I too have noticed that Stacy doesn't wear what she recommends for others! I find her a bit stuck on herself too!

The wife and I watch that show all the time and are both secretly wishing that our friends would nominate us. I have yet to see an overweight, balding Scottish guy on there so don't really know what my clothes rules would be...I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be what I wear at the moment though. I actually like the hair and make-over part of the show. I can usually tell which of the women are going to be really hot after their make-overs

No, I don't watch it, I don't watch or listen to any of the so called 'experts' in this kind of an area. I do, however, listen to my husband. I am fairly sure that your Stacy wouldn't think it proper for a short, fat, senior citizen to wear bright color, big bold prints and the very loose, long dresses that I wear, but I don't care. I do care when I see the light in my hubby's eyes and his grin when I am wearing one of the above mentioned things he bought me.

I have only seen the original What Not to Wear from Great Britain, but I have followed some of their rules and used their guidelines to make suggestions for my fashion hopeless mom...
Most of the rules I follow from the show have to do with body shape, though, and what type of clothing looks best on a particular body.

I dont follow her rules. I however dont know if i fit anywhere around her rules. I am heavy and have a hard enough time finding cloths that just fit these days with all the new low ride cut jeans and high cut tops that i cant follow those rules. I may even qualify to be on the show I have worse cloths then any of the people i have ever seen in there. I love the show i just know that i cant follow her rules and it really never changed my way of dressing but while shopping it has made me think if i was this small this would look good oh and it looks alot like the outfit that i saw on what not to wear

I do not watch that show at all. I caught it once but it did not look that appealing to me.

I watch the show somtimes. Do I follow all the rules? No. Some I don't agree with. I took a dress design class and already know pretty much what to look for. One of the rules I don't agree with is all the layering. If you are heavy on the bottom half every horizontal line across that area makes you look wider. Layering creates these lines. Another is the pointed shoes. If you have ever suffered from an in-grown toenail then you know that these shoes while fashionable are a big pain waiting to happen. One thing I agree with is the pleated pants. But what do you do when that is all the stores sell. Not everyone can afford to go to these store that they do on TV that offer a selection. I'm glad that right now pleats are not "in". Because I can shop Wal-Mart and such stores and still find some decent pants.

Oh - is that the US version of the English show? I watch the English version and I sometimes agree with the presenters, but sometimes not. I do try to find clothes that suit my body type and of course, depending on the occasion. I find it easier buying clothes for winter.
Crazynurse - could you elaborate on some of these "rules"?

Well the 'rules' vary depending upon body type. (large or small frame, large or small bust etc) Some things that she tells everybody are: no miniskirts after age 35, wear pointy toe shoes because they 'elongate' the leg, wear only dark wash bluejeans, etc. A few for large busted women are: wear V-neck shirts to elongate the neckline, wear structured jackets with 3 buttons and 'lock and load' the girls in there!

Well - I have broken at least one of those rules in my avatar. I am wearing a miniskirt and I am over 35. Granted, I am on holidays and wouldn't wear this outfit on anything but on vacation or to the beach. I do prefer skirts just below the knee though - they are just much classier - for young and old.

I wish I could afford too..and I was wish I was 5 inches taller and 50 pounds lighter...and I wish I could find comfortable shoes..but I don't wear pleated pants..and I try to find the ones that sit a little below the waist.
But I love T-shirts and sweatshirtsm they can't go..I would have to go topless.

Ha! I'm right there with you Deb when it comes to the t-shirts and sweatshirts...but I'm pretty sure that topless isn't one of the rules...ha!

Nope.
I don't listen to what those types of people say, they normally make people look worse or rather "hooker" looking. as for guys over here the united kingdom they seem to always suggest suites.
Not everyone looks as good as james bond in a black suite..

It's actually quite funny!

I love wearing What not to Wear and How do I look. I have notices that eversince I started watching these two shows, I have been more careful when shopping.
I don't strictly follow the rules but I keep them in mind and usually satisfied with the end result.
