Have you ever worn your name badge outside of work by accident and have someone call you by your name when you did? I haven't had that done to me lately, but it has happened to me. I've almost worn my badge outside of work, but manage to catch it before I went to another place.

i don't see anything wrong about people knowing us by face and name because of those name tags. i rather have the feeling that it will be an advantage.

Yes, I have. When I use to work for a company called 'Allied Moulded Products Inc.". The rules there state you have to have your name tag on and visible at all times. That way if someone comes in and they don't have a badge on. They were surronded by management wanting to know why they are there. It is to ensure the safer of the workers. There have been many times I have forgotten to take my badge off. So I got in the habit of attaching it to my mirror in my vehicle. That way if it wasn't there I starte dlooking for it. I never had the problem of forgetting to remove it after that.

I think I worked for a company that did the same thing, everyone had to have a badge. When I worked at least one place, I had to have a specific badge color to enter certain areas of the workplace. At one place, which was a military base, if you didn't have the right clearance, you will be questioned by the MPs.

No, but my parents have. It was pretty funny because people were calling them by name and then they realized that they had their name tag on! Hahaha, it's the funniest thing I have seen, but that is okay, really. Have a nice day.

I know that's what I'm talking about. I was in a store one time and they said "thanks Darlene" and I said "How do you know my name" and then realized I had my tag on. It's pretty funny.

I've done that before, I used to work in a mall so I'd go outside to smoke. I'd get random people saying "hello mememama (not really but my real name haha)" and I thought that's really weird, they must be stalking me, how nice! But then I'd realize I'm wearing my name tag and that I'm not that cool!

no, but I've not really had any jobs where I had to wear a name tag.
I have called people by their name on their name tags a their jobs & they look at me like "HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?!?!" Just amazes me - like - "DUHHH its on your chest!!!"

i am inclined to believe that this has happened to a lot of us. name badges are given to us also when we attend seminars and conferences and they are written in big, bold letters. if somebody calls me by my nickname or by my full name because of it being pinned on my left side of the chest, i will smile in acknowledgement and say hi. i am obliged to do so. those name tags are supposed to be inviting others to recognize us by name and face.

Not badges though, i was wearing a shirt wherein my Big name was printed at the back. It really annoys me when people at my back try to call me with my name. lolx
