We used to have many snakes roaming around in our house and it was a usual for me to come across a snake as we had a large garden at our house. And the sight of it would frighten me. I used to be very careful while venturing out of my house.

snakes will always send some quivers of fear in each one of us. we know how deadly a bite from a venomous snake can be. it is the awareness of this danger that makes us fear these animals. it will be good to know that they will not attack us if they are not threatened. you were right about getting away from a snake real slow. the snake did not feel threatened at all with that reaction coming from you. i know that i am among the lucky few which snakes do not just harm. maybe you are, too. our fear of the snakes cannot reveal this talent to us. one indication that snakes will be good to you is, they will be sleeping alongside you. of course, you won't know this, you will just find it out once you wake up.

snakes were almost everywhere when i was still a child. we just let them be. once i was at the farm. until now, snakes abound there, a snake was about to attack the farm help. she was placing the mother hen and some chicks in the chicken house. she called on me for help. when the snake heard my voice, it wavered and saved the farm help from being bitten by the philippine cobra. i know long before that, i have a way with snakes. they are friendly to me and never attack me. this is the reason why i used to have some snakes for pets before.

Hey Trinidadvelasco, Can I give you a shout the next time I see a rattlesnake on our property? I'd much rather someone charm those little stinkers off the property than have to shoot them. I've been known as a dog, bird and horse charmer, but I have no 'way' with rattlesnakes. They seem beyond charming, for me. And, I feel terrible when we have to kill them. Uggghhh! But, it's just not worth the loss of life. They're about the nastiest, most cantankerous critters I've ever encountered. And, I've seen my fair share of wild predators. So, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, could you work your charms for us?

My dog stumbled upon 2 snakes sunning themselves on a rock. We saw him jump back in an odd way and heard the hissing. Before the curiosity got the better of HIM, i grabbed his collar and lead him away from the snakes. Still don't know if they were rattlers or not, but I didn't want to stick around to find out! We left, and never walked that way again!

The first thing to remember in case of snake bite is not to panic. Because panicking increases your blood circulation and if the snake is poisonous the spread of the venom in body becomes faster. And if the snake is not poisonous, panicking might escalate the situation to worse. And in my opinion a snake might not bite any one on its own. Hence the moment you see a snake, try to pass it on and do not disturb. Because snakes are known to bite whenever they feel threatened. Snakes too fear human beings.

I kinda like snakes. Actually like is the wrong word; I have a healthy respect and admiration for them. We had a famiy of garter snakes under our house in HI; harmless, but my ma was terrified they'd come in the house. My ex had a beautiful albino boa constrictor I fell in love with. I did encounter a water moccasin in the midwest while I was hiking with my students and ended up bashing its head in. It apparently felt threatened and we were up against a rock. I didn't want to risk going past and having it strike one of the kids, so I kinda had to kill it first. Ordinarily, I don't agree with killing something in its own home, though if it enters my home or property, it becomes fair game. Never been bitten though. Blessed Be

A snake once got on my dad's car and it followed us home once, it was scary. The cops came and took it away when we found out about it, but it scared me so bad.
