Well it's my time again to comaplian today about this site and the topics I have seen today from my friends list and even from the general membership. First off this is not pinpointing anyone at all. It's just a general concensus that I've seen here as of late. I have been really getting tired of seeing and reporting flagrant copy/paste discussions. Some even from my friends lists. I am also getting tired of ojne liners. And these aren't all from new members. I also am sick of the topics that are just news stories without a single comment added. What has become of mylot members and their discussions as of late? I spent 45 minutes going through my email and I actually found just a few topics worth responding to. It just seems that a lot of members are either getting lazy or fed up with the few cents they make. Did any of us really think we'd make $5 a day here? Do we think we can get rich off writing here? I am really tired of it all as of the last week. I don't know what to do. I've added a LOT more friends yet it seems it's still occuring here at a rapid rate as of late. Anyhow I'm done complaining. Guess I'll comment on the mylot posted news stories. At least there I know they are good topics and what not. Plus theirs no limit to how many I can respond to. Seems fitting as I lobve reading daily news anyhow. Have a great day all.

I've gotten used to your rantings, Grandpa Bob. I read them all and then think about it. There is one clear distintion between your rantings and the others I've read. Yours are thought out and well written whereas the others are just blah blah blah blah. Anyways, I have 2 friends on my list that haven't been active for the past month. One I know has been working so much OT that he doesn't even have a life outside his job anymore. The other I have no clue about. Just up and stopped coming into mylot. Thinking of sending her a PM and then deleting her. I know I haven't started any discussions but being my 1st 2 were so crappy, I learned never to start discussions when my mind is still in dreamland or they end up worthless with no responses.

It takes a while to get good at starting discussions and having them get responses. You also need a bit of a reputation here. So mostly responding build a reputation, and also some friendships. You may want to try some more discussions. Good wishes.

I have noticed that the quality of topic has grossly one downhill. Also, the complaining about staying or leaving is getting much worse. I don't complain because I know there isn't much money to be made here. I am here to occupy time and keep my mind challenged. With my husbands upcoming deployment this is going to be my mainstay for conversation lol! I do like to comment and post discussions and enjoy meeting new people and reading different topics. I don't like to hear complaining and negativity. Thanks for posting this Grandpa Bob! It needed to be said!

I am not going to wish for "the good old days" on here, that is wasted time. I will try to do everything I can within the guidelines to make this a good site. I will tag, and respond, and choose best responses, and stay away from categories that are not allowed. I think some old time users got sloppy, and they lost points, and they got upset. We need to post real ideas, and speak to each other here. That is why I still love being on myLot. It is a good way to have good conversations, if you choose the right friends, and look in the right places.

Hear hear, I know exactly what you mean, I have a few friends of mine that all they post is news storys or cut and paste items, they are not really open to discussions and don't even respond to your comments when you post them, I thought his was a forum where you exchange thoughts back and forth. At one point I was so angry I started deleting friends, I believe I deleted over 75 friends one day, I was just tired of people coming on here staying for a month and then leaving and yet they were on my friend's list. Lately to me it seems like no one is starting discussions anymore. I have put all my friends (yes, all of my friends) on notify so that I could weed out those that I have nothing in common with and thinking my response ratio would be going up since I did this, to my disbelief I seem to get less mail now than when I put them on notify, so it has be wondering what is going on with myLot these days. Thanks for allowing me to rant today, you have a good one Grandpa Bob.

Since day one I've had the notify on for ALL my friends. And yes in the last two weeks my emails have dropped drastically it seems. I used to wake yp to 200 now it's not near 100. But what can one day? Wait it out as I'm sure it will pick up ahgain I'm sure. Thanks for the response also.

So glad to know it is not just me, I kept thinking that some of my friend's dropped off my list and that is why I was not getting emails on new discussions. Thanks for responding back Grandpa Bob. Have a good one~!

That's what I've been feeling also, the reason why I reduced my time spending here GrandPa. Lots of violations, cheap postings and copy/pasting, not to mention emotional problems I've been with lately.
I decided to stay, still hoping that things would turn out good, Am still here, though I am not that active and posting my usual numbers. I guess I'm just a bit tired on turning pages with nonsense topics posted, been getting sick of making members aware of what to do. Then later I would be the one that some will turn up to, with them telling me to mind my own business or that I should take a vacation from mylot. To which I gallantly comment back on them, saying that this is not what mylot was all about.
I guess there are good members/posters here that decided to leave, because of those reasons that most of us have been experiencing here lately. Let's just hope and wish that these mental practice would change, and go for more contributive postings.

I do understand what you are talking about, i too have had a problem with this in the last month or so.
But in the last week it seems like things are getting better, i do not know maybe it is because most of the people on my friends list have also gotten tired from all that was going on, and decided to post alote of good and interesting posts.
I do know that we lost a few good people here, in the stage when most of the discussions were posts like you described.
But i do sense a positive thing that had started to happen here, in the last week, and i do hope that it will stay that way.

Nope not you friend. LOL. I mean I've seen the WHOLE news article copied then not a singlwe word added as their own as a comment on the news. That's ridiculous.

Skipping right past the complaints, I will say that I am finding the news feature to be of interest. I try to get there every day. I always hope there is something I am smart enough to respond to. I like news programs on TV, too. Things like 60 minutes and Dateline. I will admit, as far as dicussions go, that some I just will delete, as I have no reasonable response. I do not do one liners,jokes, and only occasionally recipes with discussion served up as a side dish. I am pleased with the responses I get to the discussions I do start, and I am beginning to get caught up on my unresolved ones as well. Some of your complaints could be taken as very valid tips by other users.

i HAVE BEEN DOING THE NEWS GROUP HERE RESPONDING ALSO. iT'S PAID THE SAME WAY AS FAR AS RESPONSES GO. i ALSO EMAILED ADMIN AND THEY said there is nio limit o=n how many news stories we can respond to. Just be sure not to copy/paste the same response. Well DUHHH!! Too funny. So I sit reading the news when theirs no decent discussions.

The last few weeks I saw many of my friends start complaining about same thing.I haven't much time to spend here and I understand what you mean because i saw it too but i know if I had more time to spend I'll start complaining also.the only thing made me i fell sad the last few weeks was that I saw many of my friends stop coming here.I don't know why or if I must worry.
I'm also from those friends of yours without many new discussions but as I saw here I prefer don't talk if I haven't really something good,new and interesting to say.

Good attitude aidonia you have there. I have not beenas actively starting discussions as I used to all due to fear of deletions etc. But I'm sure my attitude will change soon. Some on my list have also stopped coming around posting and/or responding. It's sad but I guess it's expected actually as it would be on similiar sites I'm sure. You have yourself a great day/evening also.

Hi Bob, I hear you and totally agree, I have just about given up on posting discussions unless they are so mundane that they offend no one as if it is the least bit one sided they are deleted. So what is the use and i suspect that a lot of people are like me wondering what in the heck is the use if you post something and it gets deleted because it upsets some one and all the people that answered are deleted as well. Admittedly the money is not attractive enough to make me stay it is the hope that i can get on to a good discussion and not get deleted. Sorry for being so negative but that is what I see and feel. I stay with hopes that it will improve

I am also getting tired of the repetitive discussions that I often encounter here Grandpa Bob. Sometimes I still respond to them especially if they are from my friends but most of the time, I no longer bother. I would rather not post anything than post something half heartedly that is lacking in substance and effort.

Hello grandpa. Eventhough I'm not very active with mylot anymore, I try to log in from time to time. I didn't bother to post any thread for 3 days. I have 3 friends who bade me goodbye through PM. It seems they are already fed up with the ongoing happenstance here.
I can understand why they decided to opt out. Must be the weather as it seems there was an explosive dynamite occurring lately. I kept scrolling up and down and yet I can't find any discussion to respond either. I'm always at a lost for words to say. I'll take this time to apologize again to you, grandpa. I'm not myself this past few days and can't respond to all your discussions.

No problem. I don't nor can't expect all my friends to respond to all my discussions. So relax and search around. Hahahaha. Take care friend.I haven't recieved but one P.M. from a friend leaving thankfully.

Oh I'm taking a break all right. Wednsday morning I'll be here just a few hours. Then I'm heading to the casino till Thursday evening sometime. So I doubt that I'll be here too much Wed. or Thur. Got a free room, free food, and free money so I'm taking advantage of this and going alone. The wife doesn't want to go so it's me and only me.

What you say is absolutely true, webishere. The pickings seem to be getting mighty slim. Sometimes it takes me awhile to find a discussion that's even worthy of commenting on. I always try to post on subjects that may be of interest to many people. I am learning as I go. Some of the discussions are so poorly phrased that it is hard to understand what the topic is about.

Hi Grandpa Bob,
I've just discovered this, and look at the time. I was surprised by unexpected visitors earlier, and then my daughter had someone over too, so I didn't get back on, as planned. I actually went through the myLot rules and guidelines earlier (yesterday now), and couldn't find the 'no posting jokes and recipes part), but guess it's become too frequent, and so they're getting deleted ... especially jokes. I too, have noticed that a lot of 'my friends' aren't starting many topics these days, which makes it harder all around. I'll have to try to do better too, and not get 'too' discouraged. I'm glad you'll be getting away on Wed. and Thurs. That'll be great for you. Maybe I'll have to check out the news stories too, as I haven't done so yet. Please stick around here though, as it wouldn't be the same without you.:)

The reason it 'wouldn't be the same without you' Grandpa Bob, for me, is because you come across as a very dedicated, caring person. If you're just being yourself then you 'maybe' don't realize that you're showing you care, about people, myLot etc. A lot of my close friends away from myLot, are a distance away, so it's great for me to make these type of connections on here. We're also in the same age bracket, and I really look forward to viewing your photos too.:)

I know what you mean Grandpa. I thought at one point i could make alot on here and made a plan to do so and maybe someday i will but that dont bother me even if i dont gave me something to work for. I really dont care what i make i am here for the people and the discussions and the friendship from mylotters. I learn alot and all of you have helped me out alot in life by responding to what i got to say. I love being here and i really try to put our good discussions and give my all on my responses. Lets see if we can make this like the old mylot i know i wasnt around then but one of these days i will be a senior member and i want to do my part to make this discussion site number one. thanks grandpa bob for that post! I haven't been on mylot for very long. some posts are good, some posts border on the inane. i guess there are huge extents people will go to for a few more cents.
i guess on our part, we should stay and make constructive discussions. and interesting ones so that there's a point for others to continue here too! otherwise it'll just be over-run by the uninteresting posters and the whole thing will have to shut down. this is the only site i know that even bothers to pay you as you chat, so that's a good thing yah?
