Can you find quality, affordable child care for your children?
Child care can be a huge hassle. A lot of parents have no choice but to use a child care centres for their children.
I used one for about 2.5 years for my daughter, then she After School Care for three years.
There is a shortage of child care centres in some areas; an oversupply of child care centres in other areas.
There is not enough child care rebate.
Some parents are misusing child care centres, where the policy is that children whose parents are working have first priority.
What are your experiences with Child Csre Centres & what is the situation in your area?

Child care center is not very popular here in my country. Most of the children have someone besides their parents to look after them. Filipinos basically is comprised of extended families. There is the grandparents, relatives and hired nannies. Child care center also charged high fees per hour here.
I never placed my girls to any child care center. I decided to forsake my career and be a hands-on mom. It is not easy but I feel better knowing that I personally raised and cared for them.

I choose to stay at home now with my bub, I did all the sums, and even if I could find a place in daycare, it just wouldnt be worth me working and I would rather stay at home. Spending time with my children is much more important to me than working and most of the wages goes on fees anyway. But there is a shortage in quality care and the waiting lists are phenominal.

One of the biggest problems with the childcare is that they dont hire enough teachers for the amount of children. They also dont pay as much as these teachers deserve. I think it would be alot safer with a better ratio child to staff.

My children go to an in home day care. They are cheaper than a day care center I believe. I have looked into getting my daughter into a child care center for the curriculum and for the learning. I worked at this child care center for 5 years but I still have questions as to whether or not I want to put her in one. I am very picky about how my child is treated. Not saying that all child care centers are mean but when you do have a lot of children over ratio than they don't get to learn as much or be supervised as they should. And I think that the child care centers charge way too much for childcare. Well some of them. I feel bad for the teachers and workers there because they don't make enough money for what the parents pay in childcare.

Home Day Care is popular here too, & if the carer is trained 7 registered, then the parents get a subsidy from the Government.

I provide childcare in my home, for only a few children at a time. This helps me out, and the children are treated like family. My home is not in a desired area, so I have to keep a closer eye on them. Playtime is usually not spent in my little yard, but at a plyground instead. I feel that this is better for the children involved. We eat together, play together and learn together. And each child has more individual attention than at a day care center.

We have many child care centres here. So we have no problem placing our children and the fees varies. When my kids were small I do send them to child care centres when the baby sitter suddenly resign and can't find an immediate replacement. Most of the people here prefers live in nanny that can do housework at the same time. Sending children to child care centres can be very troublesome when you're in a rush for work and worse if you're caught in a traffic jam.

My parents and my sisters have always watched my kids but then when my husband and I decided to move in together I moved about a 1000 miles away from my family and his so no family and no friends in a new area was tough. At first we said I wouldn't work and I didn't but then money started to get tight so we decided I would go back to work and it was horrible I had a great babysitter at first but I was only paying her like 300 a month and she said that she wasn't going to do it anymore because not making enough money. Which is understandable, then I found a new girl and she was so bad. She would change my 1 year old maybe 2 times a day and I would send snacks and extra food for my kids and she wouldn't give it to them. Then she just didn't answer her door one day and didn't call me back for 3 days. I was livid that is when I started working from home. Won't ever put our kids in daycare again.

In my area, I believe there is a shortage of good child care centers, with hours that meet the working families' needs. I was a home day care provider for awhile. Generally our schools do not offer after school programs. There are not, generally, rebates or supportive funds, unless a person is receiving government support. Yes there is a crisis.

I am not sure what the cost is for the day care where my daughter takes my granddaughters when she has to work and there is no family available to watch the girls, but she says that if she has to pay them for daycare, more than half of her paycheck is spent on gas and daycare. The daycare is licensed by the state, meaning that it must meet certain standards so hopefully the girls receive quality care while they are there.

you are right!! When my husband and I were looking at childcare centers while I was pregent I was shocked. The lowest cost we found was 800.00 a month (that is almost more then my house note). It was ashame to see this and the ones watching the babies and children were highschool students!!
