Something from Anime or Manga? New words, new events, new way to think... When I was a child, I use to watch pokémon. From it, I've learnt to love animals a little more. Now, I was watching Fullmetal Alchemist, and I've learnt a lot of things about Alchemy, about homunculus (I've never though they really existed in the past xD Or better, i didn't think someone'd tried to create them), and I've learnt that we never neve have to give up. So, what about you?:D

Anime and Manga have taught me to love something abstract that actually symbolizes something real... The anime girl wallpapers have always fascinated me, but then people have come along and taken it too far. Like hentai.. I mean its just not right... I dont know

I find that anime and manga can teach me a lot about japanese culture. Sometimes there will be jokes that I don't get, or the chracters will be dressed in ways that I'm not familiar with. This makes me hurry off to the internet to try to figure out as much as I can. For instance, when I was in junior high, I would watch Sailor Moon. On that show I learned about bento boxes and various festivals that the characters would go to. It was really interesting. You are also right about learning a lot about never giving up and other morals. A lot of anime definately has a message about being a stronger and better person. And there are also a lot of stories about friendship, loyalty, and family. Lessons like that are always great to have.

Actually, I am studying Japanese in college and I tend to watch a lot of anime as listening practice. It's a great way to practice when no one else is around and it really helps me to remember grammar and other complicated Japanese language concepts.

That's what I did too when I studied Japanese back in high school. I watched a lot of anime and listened to Japanese music, and tried translating the words. I'll have to disagree with one of your points though, anime isn't a nice place to pick up the proper grammar, since they use very informal speech most of the time. Although, Mint from Galaxy Angel will use strictly proper grammar everytime.

I guess the thing I have learned most from anime is how to speak more Japanese and about the Japanese way of life, and their cities, and all kinds of stuff like that. I guess I probably wouldn't even be that interested in learning about Japan if anime hadn't introduced me to it. Now I learn about stuff besides just anime, but watching anime is what got me started!

Since language and culture have already been mentioned (which I also learned too), I'll just say that I learned some cooking fron anime. Especially rice balls. I've also learned a few random trivial stuff. For instance, I learned some really bad Japanese puns. I also learned, through anime and manga, a little more about anime and manga and its fans (see: Lucky Star).

I learned how to speak Japanese. Also, since I was studying Japanese in school, I didn't have anyone to talk to at home. So I watched anime so I could practice.
