I for one hate this law in NY. Just tonight, while I was sitting here browsing around, and reading. I heard a huge crash!! My cat was in the window & jetted. I first looked at my car parked across the street from my house ( tommow is street cleaning day). I opened the screen and looked up the street, and saw a 3 car accident. I called 911. My daughter & I ran outside. The kids all got upset from the noise & were scared. We basically live at the edge of downtown. The street is more or less a small intersection. We have alot of one- way streets in our city. My street is a 2- way, and I might add a speedway, even though we are a few blocks from the Police Dept. The 2 other streets connecting to ours, are 1-way streets. Meaning you can go left & right on red. Only 1- way up the hill. Everyone is always trying to beat each other, because they are in a hurry. I have a Police scanner, and I heard 3 people were hurt. One person had to go on a backboard. I hate this law! People take advantage of it, just like this driver tonight " Thought She could" cut out in front of another car. Creating this accident. for what? To save herself a minute or two? I feel so bad for the innocent people involved. I wish they never allowed this law in the first place, because people today take to much advantage of a privliage, and it was not created to harm other people. It was created to save a little time, when it does not hinder other traffic flow that has the right of way!! But alas the public thinks they can do as they feel. Sorry if it sounds like a rant, but people got hurt tonight, and I feel for them. I do my best to abide the traffic laws, to protect me & mines. What is your opinion on this type of law?

Hello Irish,we have the same law here, but you very seldum here of accidents like that.
anyone caught turning if there is another car comming towards you,you are charged with turning when unsafe to do so,and recieve a $200.00 fine for the first offence.
I find it great untill someone going straight through is stopped in front of me so you can't turn, then you want to get out and give them a slap in the head for being in the wrong lane.
The last is just a thought, not something that is done.lol
Blessed Be.

I'm not sure what the fine status is here. I for one don't want to find out though.
