If I'm not mistaken, I have experienced vertigo twice or thrice, and I say it was hell...my world seemed to spin, I could not stand lest I'd fall, could not even open my eyes. What about you, have you experienced it? What causes vertigo?

I've experienced it before. It is horrible! You can't stand or even move your head! Most of the time, it is an inner ear problem and there are meds for it. When I had that problem several years ago, the Dr ordered an ENG test. It was ok...until they put really cold air into my ear to stimulate my inner ear. Talk about dizzy! It was awful. And to make things worse, because I was moving so much from being dizzy, the Dr could not read the results and said he may want me to do the test again. I said no! I saw another Dr and he said that it usually goes away on it's own and it did. Always, too, have your blood pressure checked. That can cause dizziness as well. I hope you feel better soon!

Misery loves company! Your sharing is really reassuring...I think this has something to do with my inner ear like you said. High blood pressure is also a potential cause...I have to prevent it by dieting. Thanks

My understanding is Vertigo is caused by an imbalance in the middle ear. I have experience vertigo many times. When I was a child, we would go to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I would hold on to the railing and look out. But if I looked down, I was in trouble. I had an overwhelming feeling of falling. I knew I was not actually falling but I felt like I was falling. I was terrified. I would hold onto the railing so tightly that my parents had to pry my hands off of the railing and help me back the car. Now I will not go near any kind of a drop-off and look down.

I have two points for you: One, I think I share the same condition as you do...the imbalance in the middle ear. Second...good for you, you have visited the Grand Canyon. That's one place I'd really like to see..it must be breathtaking! Have a good day...

YES! I have had vertigo and it is not funny. The first time I had an attack I was picking my kids up at school, oh my goodness! I prayed really hard to make it home driving. The second time, I woke up during the night and I honestly couldn't find the floor to go to the bathroom. I had to wake my hubby up and close my eyes and he led me to the bathroom. I was so nauseated. I have had many spells of it. The the dr gave me a prescription for adivert, I think, and I could take it and sleep it off. IT is an awful feeling.

I could just imagine having vertigo while driving...that must be horrible. You're really a survivor, mamacathie. You're truly admirable.
