I've noticed most of the members here in myLot, even my friends already has their own family. Most are stay at home mom's and wives and their husbands are also working. Some are students still living with their parents and there are also some who lives alone. I belong to a big family and every time we get together, trust me it is a riot. My borthers' and sisters' kids running around making noises. I don't really feel comfortable. It's fun but sometimes it's fun only for a period of time. But I like it when I just spend time with my parents and my borthers and sisters minus their kids. LOL. So, to every one who has their own familes and even to those who are students living with their parents and those living alone, do you still have time to bond with your family? Like lunch or dinner out or simply spend time together to chat and talk about things? Do you have fun? How do you feel when you spend time with your family?

I have a very large family outside of my own. Personally I am married with four children so everyday at my house is nuts. I love it though. I homeschool my children and have an eight month old. Things get crazy, but it is something new everyday. I live in a small town where I have many relatives. My mother has eight brothers and sisters who each have 2 or more children of their own who now have two or more children of their own. We get together several times a year all in all there is about a hundred of us now. I can be stressful, but usually we have a great time. The numerous kids get together and the adults get together. It is great to have such a large family. Enjoy it while you can. Once you have children of your own it is hard to spend time with the adults of the family or the kids. Aunts and uncles carry a special place in a child's heart. Create your space their with those children while you have none. It will make a huge difference in your life later. My family gets on my nerves like everyone elses, but I cannot imagine a world without it.

Sounds like prescription all right. LOL. :) Quality family time with my parents is like twice in a month at most. Everybody's just really busy.

I'm currently staying with my husband and my sister. We will have dinner together sometimes, it depends on what time we finish our work. Should this be considered as our 'family time'? Well, I enjoy the time when my parents come to my house or when I go back to my hometown. That's what I really consider it as 'family time'. We usually have breakfast, lunch and dinner together, chit chatting and talking about our lives. Sometimes, I'll also sit beside my mum and chit chat with her, just to hear what she wants to say to me. well, sometimes older people really want to talk, especially all of us staying away from home.

I guess every time we spend time with our family is considered as family time as long as you're not bashing each other. LOL. I agree that older people especially if it's our parents really want to talk and hear stories from their children who already have their own families.

It seems that you don't like staying with children. Me too. I still remember how excited I was when my sister gave birth a baby. But after about two weeks, I felt really tired of the baby. Now my niece is 6 and I often find myself tired and bored to be with her for more than an hour. I live in a different city from my parents' and sister's, so we don't have much time to get together. I enjoy my life without family in this city. But I am still looking forward to some holidays that I can go back to my parents' home and have family reunion for several days.

I love babies. But I don't like being around too many children especially those ages 4-8, these kids are the most "rowdy" as they are still growing up. I can't really tolerate too much kids' noise. LOL. I would like to live in a different city from my parents' but I think I'll miss them too much as I'm used to having lunch and dinner out with them. Most of the time, it's only my parents and I who go out cos all of my elder brothers and sisters has their own families and we only get together in special occasions and holidays also. :)

Spending time with my family, my parents and my sisters is really a big deal for me. Everytime we are together, I am really happy and I feel secured in their presence. I made sure that at least in a month, I will be able to spend 2 weekends with them, just to chat and hang around. It's really the best times of my life!

My husband, son, and I don't live near family, so it's just the three of us. We like to go out and do things together, like shopping and playing at a park. We try to set time aside every week to do something together.

On my nights off (Wednesday and Thursday) we have "family date night" where my husband, my son and I go run errands, eat out, and sometimes just go to the park or for a drive. We also spend time with my parents on Sundays. My sister and my in-laws all live in another state so we don't see them as often, but we do plan "family time" when they're around. It's interesting seeing others' ideas and and views about spending time with family; this is a good discussion!
