Why does everyone seem to think that there are laws against driving barefoot? Guess what, at least in the US, there aren't. There are some states where it's illegal to ride a motorcycle barefoot, but not cars and trucks. I've talked to people who have been ticketed for this, so the cops don't even know the laws they are supposed to be enforcing. Usually when I bring this up, people insist that it is illegal in their state. Guess what.. It Isn't!

I never really gave it much thought. I asked my dad once why your not surpose to drive barefoot and he told me that it was because your foot was surpose to get tired easier if you didn't have shoes on. I have no idea if that is true or not. I have always worn my shoes when I am outside of my house and I will be continueing to do so.

I always thought that was a silly "law" when I heard people talk about it. Although, honestly, knowing what I walk through every day before I get in the car and drive with shoes on, makes me not want to touch the pedels with my bare feet! LOL.

When I first had driving lessons, I spoke to my instructor about this. He said it was illegal here (England) so I would guess he would know. But that was 5 years ago, it might have changed since then, I don't know. But he did explain why it was illegal but I can't remember what he said!

Yeah, almost every driver's ed teacher here insists it's illegal too, but there isn't a single state in the US that actually has a law against it.

Because its very dangerous to drive with your barefoot. this might cause accidents. that's why federal government prohibits or passed a law for the good of the motorist itself...

Yeah, I can see where heels would be much more dangerous than Driving Barefoot.
