Predicting the FUTURE .. none is good at it .

The astrologer with his cosmic revelations at hand , the soothsayer with his short cuts to gains in life , the fortune teller with his formula for wealth ...still more the card readers , the crystal viewers . Ultimately they rip you of your purse . After all , only God or the Almighty can say for sure what exactly will happen to you in the future . Then , why this frenzy over these rippers .

Your opinion is correct since there are a number of astrologers who have no knowledge about astrology. But do you know that there are around one lakh astrological books (Grandhas) available in India written by saints ( This information is received from a researcher on ancient books Shri Sharma who expired some months back). Nobody will be able to read such number of books in his life. There is also another reason. Many astrologers will not go through the "Pramanaas" or the basis "slokas" of astrology, but only through some guides available in the market. I have already started a discussion on the subject in which I have stated that in astrology, the fifth house in one person's horoscope denotes his mind and stomach. Doctors says that whenever the mind becomes upset, it effects stomach or vice versa. Moon denotes our mind in astrology as far the "karaka' of planets are concerned. We all know that during spring tide of high tide, the mind of some person become upset. According to my opinion, we have only a little knowledge about astrology and with this knowledge it is not fare to criticize any thing including astrology.

Earlier ,I had been to several astrologers and on their advice spent quite a lot of money on 'dosha pariharas' but of little or no use. Currently I'm on Budha dasa.In the horoscope chart Budha is placed on the 12th house alongwith Ravi. My star is Thiruvathira and am aged 57. No sign of good times dawning on me .You have any comments on this.please express it.

Isn't everything predetermined . An astrologer can say what will happen in the future , but only the Almighty can say what will exactly happen . How do you react to this gesture?

I am only having limited knowledge on astrology. You have stated that budha and sun is in the 12th house and the Dasa of mercury is going. I can only say details if I know the house (bhava)whose lord is budha. Geneally 12th house denotes "defficiency". It means that if lord of Karma is budha or mercry, (tenth house) you may not shine in your field of work or you will have to work in a low level job. There are so many aspects to be considered for reaching conclusion and I do not want to spend much space in Mylot. For advicing "pariharaas",also personl consultation or consultation through some of your relation is required since I have to get knowledge about the temples of your native place etc. ( Ayurveda says that diseases are due to insects and astology says that it is due to anger of gods -Ashtanga hridaya)

we were stuck by some predictions that nostradamus did. however, we can see that those are also in general terms like what is likely to happen in the future. he never gave predictions as to how exactly what will happen to any person in particular and when exactly will it take place and where. we only happen to relate his predictions to some things taking place today which will somehow be in congruence with his predictions and descriptions as to how things will take place and look like.

yes ! the predictions as regards to the new century has gone wrong . Doesn't it prove my conviction that nobody can say or predict for sure what will exactly happen in the future .?

people do not like to feel they have no control, by someone predicting their future they feel they have some control, will I make money, yes you will who doesn't want to hear that, it makes the feel more confident about the future. or there are people that need to hear messages from their departed ones, they like to hear when their deceased father says, yes charlie, you are a good boy marry mabel and you will have a good life. or to give the decision making over to the a fortune teller, should I marry bobby or should I marry peter? and the fortune teller says, my dear stay away from bobby he is wrong for you, peter is the one who truly loves you. things like that.

I agree with your assessment. Anybody can make general guesses about your future and get a few things right. I think many people are worried about their future because they think it is going to be the same as their pasts. They want to know what might happen in the future because they want to know if their lives are going to be better.

I remember months before when a casual friend admitted she purchased an online readings from an online astrologer. I can't remember how much she paid though. She was greatly disappointed by the readings because it was not accurate and the astrologer was asking for more money so she can get more detailed predictions. I am not a believer of astrology, psychic, or any of the predictions by human beings. Some people may find one who can give them a good predictions but I only relied on God. He may not share with me a comprehensive and detailed plan about my future but He never failed to guide me and help me to understand more about the true purpose of my being in here on this earth.

These online astro-numero predictions always go haywire . Once you start believing in them you would definitely lose your money .

Some people really believe in that stuff. Although, I don't, I've been to a palm reader before. It was just one of those fun things I did with my friends on our last day together before we left for college. It was one of those carnival things.

I was never one to believe in astrologers even horoscopes. I just thought they were a bunch of rubbish and really they were just out there to make some $$. I had a friend that had his palm read and was told that he was going to have 5 children, be rich at the age of 40 and own his own business and make lots of money! of course this hasn't happened but he still believes to this day that it might! I suppose if they don't believe in what God has install for them, then maybe this is their way of hoping ... who knows!

My only stand on this, NO PERSON CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE! It's definitely only God who can predict what is to come and what others say or guessed about the future are either coincidental or just too plain predictable.

You are absolutely right in affirming this . No one can what exactly is going to happen . Thanks for the nice response .

There may be many phony astrologers and fortune tellers and palmists who claim to predict future perfectly. And there may be many who have really learned the science and claim to have seen the future. But I believe that astrology even when learned properly gives only a few hints and clues. Its more like forecasting weather - there are chances of it happening. And hence people who believe in it and have a genuine astrologer for guidance should only use it to have clues and not take any decisions based on it.

i used to have fortune tellers come by my office offering their services.i gave them the same answer each time they came and now they leave me in peace. what my answer is? "please read your own fortune and see if i am willing to pay you any money."

No one can predict anyone`s future. only oneself can predict ones future . future lies in our own hand.

no one can really predict the future. those who say that they can are all liars. astrology is not a tool to predict the future. it only tells us as to how the planets, the stars and everything up there interacts among each other. then astrologers link this to how we behave, its effects on our health and interests. none about the future as to how will it be for each one of us. the real astrologers can give predictions on a general context rather than on a specific plane.

Heh, but that's the thing..does the christian God ever jump out and tell you your future? Sometimes. I do not wish to offend..I just wanted to point out that I'm waiting for a load of astrologers and other diviners to be offend and fine this discussion..your choice of words could've been a bit more careful..but ah well, one must not fret over spilled tea.. Here's the point: humans are fallible. No one can say that no diviner or astrologer is never right, because someone..somewhere has met a few who were very accurate..of which did not even charge any money. Yes, indeed there are a ton of frauds out there..they have to make a living somehow..so I do not begrudge them their line of work..even if its all fake. The sad part is, they give the real ones a bad name. See, even if you're an accurate future-predicter you're NOT going to be right all the time. You're only human. Most of us who work with any sort of divination know that the future changes with your choices. You change your choice you create a chain reaction..not only with your future, but someone else's. It's never-ending, and if you're in the line of work..it CAN be a tough job. No, no one single deity is responsible alone for the prediction of future events. Humans can get a peak too. Even if its by the aid of a tool. I've never paid nor charged a dime for my divination. If I ever go to a fair to read cards I'll have a donation box. Not a fee. It's a skill alright, just not one I'm comfortable with selling. Please refrain from saying things without researching beyond a single book. That's all I ask.

ya you can find many such future predictors every where.I feel one can easily make us fool if we are ready. I remember one quote from some book the " No one can make you fool without your permission" and i feel its very true with human beings. every one is looking for shortcuts. if your fortune can change just with wearing some gems just for a liitle money and if that has power to return you thosands times more money i think people fell it as good bargain.

Generally speaking, I was open minded to all this until Derren Brown came along. He has changed my views on the paranormal completely and although I do believe that we are all a bit psychic, i.e. hunches, feelings, phone rings you know who it is before answering etc., I don't think anyone has the power to predict our future except God. If you often get hunches, are observant and are good at reading people you probably have the knack but I think it's all probable guesswork and nothing more.
