Okay this is about one of the stupid moments in my life-there are many others I just don't like to tell people about them. When I was pregnant with my son (my second baby) I would eat out alot (I love fast-food) and I started ordering tea to drink because I didn't want to drink soda's because of all the caffeine in them. Well I was telling my husband this one day and he was like, "You know tea had caffeine in it right???" well no I didn't!! I was 23 years old and didn't know tea had caffeine in it!! How stupid am I?? I still feel like an idiot over 2 years later, that is just something I never knew. Did you even not know something so obvious??

I can't think of a particular time but I am sure I have. I am sure we all have those Duh I should have known that moments! tea actually has more caffiene per pound than coffee. But a pound of each is very different in bulk. That is why coffee has much more caffeine per cup than tea.

From everything I have been told Tea has more caffiene in than coffee does. Most of the drs.i have seen when i was pregnant they suggested than you not drink much tea because it also blocks your iron intake.

Actually, I believe tea has half the amount of caffeine of coffee Very interesting about the iron intake; I've heard that green tea is not recommended for anemics. No wonder.

Unless you buy herbal tea that says "no caffeine", all tea has caffeine in it. It has less than coffee or soda, but it is still there. Don't feel bad, a lot of people don't realize that there is caffeine in tea because it is such a small amount. At least you didn't have a Jessica Simpson moment. Remember the "is it chicken or tuna" incident that she had on national tv? Now, that is a stupid moment. :) We all have those moments though, so don't feel like an idiot over them. I remember when I found out that tomatos and avocados were fruits and not veggies. I was stunned. I was in Mexico and they were selling avocado milk shakes and I was totally grossed out and then my father told me that avocados were fruits and lots of people treat them just like they do other fruits and make milkshakes out of them. Then he totally grossed me out and offerred to buy me an avocado milkshake. UGH!

That is so funny that you said that because I didn't really care for her either way until she did the reality show when she was married to Nick and I strted to LOVE her because of the silly/stupid things she would say!! And I could totally relate to her. My husband keeps saying he is going to write a book about all of the silly things I say and do =) He is always telling the guys he works with what I do and I get so embarassed whenever I see someone he works with!!

Yeah he lets me know, he knows I would be pissed if he was doing it behind my back, this way I at least know they are going to think I am an idiot when I see them. I had to give you BR for the Jessica Simpson comment =)

Well tea like the kind you buy in a store in a box with a lot of bags doesn't have caffenine but tea does have a natural energy ingredient. Now the bottles of tea are a lot different. I drink Sobe herbal teas and they have lots of caffeine and Gensing and other energy provoking herbs :D It really depends on what type of tea you want or what kind you are buying.

Actually I don't think that is so obvious. Lots of people do not know that tea has caffeine in it. In actuality it has more than coffee does. I think we have all experienced the feeling of not knowing something that is obvious before. Bottom line however is that we can't know everything. cheers,

No, it's not obvioius that tea has caffiene in it. Some teas don't. Some actually help you sleep, so I'm assuming those wouldn't have caffiene. I had to cut out the coffee when I got pregnant, (cause they tell you to) and because it made me jittery. I cut out the tea and cola and everything else. I went cold turkey so to speak off the caffiene and that was not easy. However, as far as tea goes, it has only a small amount of caffiene, compared to coffee. And, most resteraunts dilute down the tea they serve patrons, to save money. So, chances are the tea you were drinking wasn't even as strong as it could have been. People don't want to admit it, but moms to be have been drinking tea and coffee for generations while pregnant. Course, I'm not saying it's healthy. But it's done. And, I've never heard of any actual side effects. Though I am sure I will now! LOL! So, i'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

I don't drink tea, but I did know that it had caffeine in it. There are some things that people tell me that seem so obvious, but I never knew. Don't feel stupid. I'm sure it's happened to everyone.

I get the bad mom award then, cause I drink caffiene sometimes. In fact I'm drinking a coke as we speak. I figure its better than the moms that drink Mountian Dew, but not by much. However, its a once a month indulgence and my only vice, so I can hope it will be ok.
