Anyone here using Vonage VOIP? What are your experiences? Is it worthwhile to get this compared to other VOIP, digital phone, etc? What are the pros and cons?

we have been using vonage for about a yr now...no real bad experiences with it so far but i will list a few minor urggghh factors ...1) you cant dial your phone number from a pay phone or hotel room so better hope if you have family or friends who need you they have a cellphone 2) your cable/broadband/electricity so does your phone..so again better hope you have a cellphone lol ..other then that which isnt really bad considering it saves you about 50-60 bucks a month in regular phone bill money you know? sometimes it can become staticy (i dont know if thats a word) when you are trying to do to many things online and talk at the same time but me and hubby both are usually online doing something when this happens..but i would NOT change back to our old phone service for anything ..hope this helps a little

What kind of internet connection do you have? Broadband? Oh...I didn't know you can't dial the number from a payphone or hotel room. I wonder why. I know most hotels offer free long distance calls now...so you would think that would be covered under that, right? Yeah, we have cell phones...can't live without them!

We used Vonage at our old house. And I really dont think we had any major problems with it. Just that we could not call our number from a payphone. I'm not sure if it was concered long distance or what all I know is we could not use a payphone to call our house. And also whenever we would try to sign up for services online we would be told that it was an invalid phone number. But other then that it was just fine.
