My daughters allergies

In the beginning of May, my 4 year olds allergies got so bad I had to take her to the doctor. Her eyes were runny and very puffy, she was sneezing constantly and she started coughing. When I took her she also had a fever (she must of had a slight cold on top of her allergies). We ended up with a prescription eye drop, a prescription for allergy medicine and a nebulizer. Because of the fever we also had to go get a chest x-ray to rule out infection. I felt so bad for my baby girl. Since my kids are very healthy and hardly ever have to go to the doctor (neither do my husband or I), we had to pay almost all of the bills due to the insurance deductible. She is doing much better now, but I cannot imagine going through this every spring. I also feel bad keeping her inside on nice days but if I don't she sneezes and sneezes. Does anyone else think allergies are worse this spring than other years?

I have terrible allergies- Unfortunatley mine are year round- Who knows why- It is a pain. and yes they are worse in the spring than the winter- Pollen is fresh and it's everywhere! I think if you find something that works stick with it with your daughter- Give it to regulary not just when she has an attack- and that way maybe she won't get any attacks- My daughter takes zyrtec almost daily- She is pretty good at not getting allergy attacks- if we miss it a day she starts to get the itchy eyes and runny nose- Allergies stink!

Both of my children take Zyrtec. It definitely helps them alot. I had allergies very bad when I was little but seem to have grown out of them. I can tell when the pollen count is very high. My husband has allergies also, so my kids were destined to have them!

amaleigh73, I feel your pain. My youngest son, now 13, had allergies the day he was born. His nose was stuffy, and you could tell it was allergy related. His doctor confirmed it. I have severe allergies myself (I'm allergic to pretty much everything under the sun), and hoped I wouldn't pass it along to my sons - but I did. Yes, yearly allergy season is a pain in the neck here too. (I live in Kansas). My sons suffer from allergies in the spring, whilst I suffer year round with them. I have to agree with you, this spring was the PITS. My nose ran one minute, and the next it was stuffed up. My eyes watered constantly, and my sinuses were draining. YUK!! I wish you the best of luck with your baby girl. I know from first hand experience how ruthless allergies can be. Hugs!

If her allergies impact her life that much, you might ask about Singulair. I take it daily for severe eczema, and it helps my nasal allergies and asthma also.
