I've heard it said that shyness is thinking more about what other people think about you than you think about yourself. We are born alone and we die alone, the people we meet in between come and go and there are precious few that become lifers! Take action to overcome your shyness so when you're an old woman you won't look back on your life and think yourself a fool for not having taken risks and lived life to the fullest. Check out this website for some concrete things you can do starting today to put this behind you: http://www.shakeyourshyness.com. Best of luck LilyoftheThorns:)

I know that you have a lot of potential and you are very talented, LilyoftheThorns! We all have potentials and talents, we just need to translate them into "qualities". From your previous experinces you know that you are capable, transform this capability into ability. Just take a step forward without thinking for a second, what the results would be. I hope the results will be great showing you how much you have to offer. I myself was a very shy child to the point that I won\t even come in front of family friends. My parents were worried about me as to how can i develop social connections being so shy. I became very introvert and remained so in my teenage. Finally in university I made some good friends and I started opening up little by little. I decided to take this problem as a challenge and slowly I made my way into being a cosiderably social person. I still love my privacy but I am much different now. By little improvements I was able to address a crowd of some couple of thousand people as a student leader. Anyway my story is long. I just wanted to tell you that NOW is the time when you can defeat your problems which hinder your progress. Take the bold steps and see what this world has to offer you:-) Best wishes for you:-)

Wow, lots of words of inspiration for me. And I'm trying to make them sink in. I understand what everyone tells me about stepping up and taking a risk, and I hope that I can do it! Thank you.

Honey, I wish I could loan you some confidence. I used to be so incredibly shy, and I still am so some extent. All I can say is that if you don't try, you will have missed out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. All that can happen is for them to say no or yes. Either way, we'll luv ya the same! : )

I have the very same problem when I go out to look for jobs. I am very shy and backward also. I get very nervous when I have to go for an interview. I usually force myself out the door and try to do my best to get the job and it works most of the time. Just try and think positive and try not to worry about not impressing the person interviewing you. Try to be calm, and collected and that will give alot of reassurace to the person interviewing you for the job position.

I do understand how it is to be shy because I grew up very shy. However, my education and training exposed me to a lot of people and activities that made me somehow overcome my shyness. I think that is also what you have to do...overcome it by exposing yourself to such activities. It's really difficult at the start but you just have to push yourself and believe that you can do it. Life is too short to allow oneself to live in what if's because of shyness. You have so much to offer and in the end you will be so much the better if you just learn to go out of your shell.

That's what's so weird about me! I have been in 2 one act plays that I had to prefrom in front of an audience! lol. One of them I had to perfrom twice in front of two different audiences. I also had to perform 2 class plays for my junior and senior years in my theater class. They were also both in front of an audience! I played "Family Fued" with friends as team-mates at my Senior Grad NIght in front of a ton of my peers (we won! =P) I have done quite a bit in front of people. I was always nervous but I always performed well. But I am still shy and I don't know why! lol. I'm crazy

Extras in what? If it's for movies or Tv go for it! I am having some new photo's taken which I will submit to Casting Agencies who deal in Actors but also need:Extras" for the many Movies they will be make here in Montreal-all though the summer and into winter. Brad Pitt is here now and supposed to stay until at least the Fall. He was seen strolling along in Old Montreal (which is being used as a backdrop for Paris France),being filmed as he went.I am leaving for Europe and the end of August for Europe and I will miss any filming for the whole of September as I am away. September is a big month here for Films. Being an Extra can be a great deal of fun yet sometimes boreing..YOu will not remain shy for very long on a Movie Lot. You are thrown to-gether,eat to-gether and change clothes to-gether.

Yes, extra's in movies and tv shows. That's cool that Brad Pitt is filming a movie where you live! It sucks that you won't be there for it though. Thanks for the response and the warning that i'll be changing clothes with strangers ;P lol
