What do you do there?

This is a question aimed towards people who go to the gym. I recently got a membership to a gym here. Today was my first day going there. I took it easy and only did the treadmill. I walked almost 3 miles on it. I varied my speed as well as the incline. I'm trying to start out slowly. Next time I'll throw in some elliptical. What other things do those of you who go to the gym use? Do you go to the gym with a workout buddy or alone?

Well, I own a gym. The best way to get the most of out exercising is to combine cardiovascular training, resistance training and flexibility training. You will have maximum results. Through using all 3 methods you can stay limber, retain bone mass and muscle mass, improve your heart and lung condition, and burn fat. There are a million different ways to do your workouts, and what is best for you depends on a lot of personal factors about you. Sarah Brown www.sarahpersonaltraining.com

Wow. Thanks for the information. It really helps out a lot. I checked out your site as well. Very nice. I'm hoping to be able to at some point get a personal trainer at least for a bit to get me started with things. But I do not have the money to get one.

It really depends what you want to get out of your gym session. When I first started going to the gym, I wanted to build up some muscles. I used a trainer for a week so I get to know the equipments, my body posture (this is important so you don't get back ache or injure yourself) and to make sure I have the right technique. I went with a couple of friends which was good because we kept on pushing each other to do more. We start off on the bike then rowing machine for 10 minutes each to warm up. We then go to using weights for about an hour before going on to the treadmill and cross trainer to cool down. Its amazing how friendly people are in the gym. Everyone are so willing to help or give advise when needed. The gym to me have now become like a social event where you know nearly everyone and you're always welcome. People there respect your time, they know when to approach you.

Thanks for the pointers. I don't think I get any training sessions so that will have to wait for a little. But once I get accustomed to the gym I'm sure there will be many other things I do there. The people at this gym are very nice, staff and clientele.
