Thanks God that nobody smokes in our family.Neither my Dad nor my husband.Actually smoking is very bad habit which is equally bad for non smokers .You have to make them understand that smoking is not only bad for them as well as the person not smoking. It is hard task persuading a smoker to quit smoking.

haha. i surely agree with that, it is really a hard task to make someone stop from smoking. i've said everything to him, asked some doctors about the facts about smoking and told my dad about it but still IT DIDN'T WORK!..

hi ruckz!! you can never make someone stop smoking or anything for that matter. he has to have self motivation and when he has it, he would stop it himself. i believe, its matter of one's esteem, you can show him the way and tell him facts about smoking but you can't really make him quit!! just make him understand how bad it is and how hazardous it is for the family aswell. tell him, its like drinking poison and get killed sooner or later!! and even after that if he doesn't quit just laminate the following and hang it on the wall right infront of him. here it goes........ 20 mins: Blood pressure and pulse rate return to normal 8 hours: Oxygen back to normal 24 hours: Carbon monoxide eliminated 48 hours: Nicotine eliminated 72 hours: Breathing easier 2-12 weeks: Circulation improves 3-9 months: Lung function increased by 10% 5 years: Risk of heart attack halved; risk of stroke equal to never smoker’s 10 years: Risk of lung cancer halved; risk of heart attack equal to never smoker's good luck!!

I know this is not what you want but honestly there is nothing you can do to convince him to quit. He has to want to quit on his own. I know this because I begged my mom to quit for years. When I stopped bugging her and let her alone for a while she finally decided to quit. I would like my husband to quit and he has tried a few times. The thing is he has to REALLY want it. I will voice my opnion to my husband about how I feel but that is all I can do, and that is honestly all you can do untill he decides on his own.

My brothers girlfriend bought him some tapes and a book by a guy called allen carr, his system is called the easy way http://www.allencarrseasyway.com/ Even though my brother hadn't planned on giving up once he listened to this tape he did. I hope he manages it, I used to smoke years ago and am so glad I managed to give up. Maybe if you remind him that it has been proved that passive smoking causes cancer and he could be giving you cancer when he smokes that might make hime think. However addicts are always in denial about their habits so even this, although it should work, he will probably shrug off.

second hand smoking is indeed worse than how it affects the smoker.
