Breastfeeding

So how long do you or have you breastfeed.
I intend to do this for 1yr and maybe pump after that. Those women that breastfeed to a way later date do you think it affects your child later..Like people that breast feed to 8 yrs old. Like they will be made fun of in school.?

Older children don't nurse as often as a newborn, and may not in fact get much milk. They are eating a regular diet and nurse only for comfort.
My personal comfort zone is to about 3yo. If someone chooses to nurse longer, I don't think it's harmful to the child (although being made fun of is sadly a real possibility) but I also wonder if the child is becoming independent in other areas.
