Do you do anything in particular to try and identify the various types of birds you see? Do you use a book on birds or get advice from a bird expert? My parents bought this very nice cd called "Guide To Birds of North America." It is a very neat cd that tells you everything about all the different types of birds, their chirping sounds, when you may see them and where and much more. It is really cool. For those of you who like birds you can go to this website. http://www.thayerbirding.com/dnn/

I can usually tell what kind of bird it is, just by looking at their colors and sounds. I do not know the names of alot of birds or anything but there are quite a few I have come to know by their colors and the sounds they make. I will visit the website you have listed and see what they have to offer me in more knowledge. Thank you.

I love watching for birds where l live. Each year l aways spot a new friend that hangs around in my yard. I usually try to find the birds that l see online. There is one bird that l haven't found the name of it yet. I thank-you for posting the link maybe l will find him there. Happy Bird Watching!

That is awesome that you love watching birds too. I think birds are so cute and love hearing them chirp and fly around. I can't wait to start seeing birds come to my new birdfeeder that I got today. This cd has over 900 types of birds so hopefully you can find your friend at the site.

If I ever see a bird that I don't know about, I ask my boyfriend. He knows about that stuff and he has some book that he looks stuff up in. He has one on insects too. Not that I really want to know about them.lol. How is that birdbath doing? Have you seen any interesting birds yet?

That is nice that your boyfriend knows a lot about birds. He must enjoy birds very much too. I have yet to see any birds in the bath though it was almost empty today. I just got a birdfeeder today and posted a topic about that as well so the food should attract more birds to the water as well.

Bird poster - birds
For years my kids and I had a little laminated poster, probably the size of maybe an 8x14 inch paper that we picked up at our local nature store. It had all the species that were found in the area normally and it was so kewl to be able to look over at the poster and figure out which bird it was. I have a bad memory so I'd never remember the next time anyways! LOL My kids really enjoyed it too.

There's a radio show here that features a different bird call every day, so I've learned a lot by listening and identifying through sound; visually i use a field manual. My relatives are all bird-watcher's , so i use them too, lol.

I am not a bird watcher and never really got into it. I only remember some of the birds that I studied about in school and when I see one of them, I just point it out and say what it is. It maks me feel like I know something about birds somehow even if I truly don't all the way.
