Illness and Pain and Narcotics and Marijuana

I recently started a discussion about what kind of person you are and got on the subject of medicinal marijuana. As some of you know I suffer extreme pain daily.I take vicodone and ibuprofen every day. Right now I'm on antibotics also along with lidocaine and morphine patches. Many years ago when I was younger I used to smoke pot(marijuana) and drink but haven't since the kids came along..some 30 years back! I have some friends that suffer chronic pain that smoke pot to relieve it.They feel it being an herbal that it is much less harmful to their bodies then the heavy pain killers. I can not go a day without something for pain and haven't been able to in about 2 years.Sometimes I try and I'll be curled in a ball under the covers crying and my husband will tell me if I don't take something he will make me go to the er because he can not stand to see me suffer...then I take something but it takes so long to have the pain down enough to tolerate that I will suffer until I take what I would have in the beginning so I have figured out I can't go without it.I take it daily and avoid the ups and downs! I can not remember the last time I was without pain.The meds only take the edge off not make it go away. If they legalize pot I would take it for pain.I will not use it if it is illegal because I do not believe that to break this law is a good way to change it.If it comes up for a vote here in your state (USA) please consider voting in favor of it because there are many people like me out there that suffer taking heavy pain meds when the pot might help them. What are your thoughts on all this. Would you do something illegal to treat an illness or would you do what I do?
