how long do you keep bills, credit card, telephone etc. for?
Does anyone keep their bill stubs from bills they do not have anymore, like electric bills at a home that you don't live in anymore?
I have a friend who has kept them (all) for more than 7 years!
I thought that the 7 years keeping thing was for tax papers and the other stuff is for 2 or 3 years?
I have enough trouble keeping organized of papers!

My husband does all the bills, and he's doing a great job. The file box where he keeps everything is neat and organized. Usually, in January, he'll go through the box and throw out anything from before the previous year.

I don't keep any bills..heheh. There's no need to keep it. Maybe your friend just want to know how much money did he spent with his/her bills or really some people are doing that. I have this dormmate before that he always keep cellophanes inside her locker used or not. She's kinda weird.

I have kept my bills for seven years, then I toss them. My house has to much stuff now, so have to get rid of older papers. Its amazing just how much space the older papers need in my house.

utilities..probably about 6 months max.
more important things like credit i'll keep longer.
they're more liable to pull the "missed payment" jazz.

Most people keep credit card bills for 6 months and phone, power, gas and such for 1 year.
