How often do you add tags when you reply to a discussion? Do you do so every time, or only when the are tags you think could be added that are not already listed? Or do you just skip that part?

I invariably tag my all discussions. That makes my all discussions as the tagged ones! This I do because the information what we are providing in the form of discussions is stored in a retrieval , in the form of Data base and it makes easier for one to retrieve the particular topic when needed by using the tags in Search Engine! Thus tags are very important in searching a particular topic in which we are interested in! Though I try to tag every discussion of mine there have been few instances when my discussions have been posted without tags ! Here it was the system fault not mine! Before asking for the tagging the discussion is almost ready for the posting or almost posted. Since the area where I live the power failure is a common problem and after posting the discussion while tagging the discussion all of a sudden there is a power failure and the system stops working and the discussion gets automatically posted with out any tags! I don't really see if the tags what I am adding are already been added to the discussion or not, because I know that the duplicate tags are automatically eliminated! So, I add the important words from my discussion which can help in locating my discussion if needed! We need not add only the words which we have used in our discussion as tags! We also can add words which are pertinent or related to the discussion as tags. I* have seen Mylot people are adding tags from their own side for our discussions too! This is my personal observation! Thanks for initiating such a nice topic of discussion ! All the best!

I always do even if it's only one word. I think they might help people find relevant discussions

I usually don't. I do sometimes but not often. If I think something should be added to the list; then I do.

tags - Use them to search responses.
When i first started, i didn't get the idea of tagging my replies or discussions. But i later realise that the tags helps people find my responses. So now, i tag all my discussions and responses. I can also find my discussions easily when i use the tags to search. - Lyn

I thought it was a requirement in order to put the discussion into the site.

No, there is a skip option. Also the discussion get sposted immediately then you add the tags. But the discussion is alrady on the site.

I almost always skip it. I figure they're all ready tagged appropriately and at times I wouldn't know what else to add anyway.

I try to tag all my discussions. I don't actually look at what already is there on the list though. If I am in a rush and only have time to respond to a few then i skip the option.

I always tag my contribution. I don't look at the tags prior to making a comment so I don't know if I'm duplicating tags or not. I make my tags relevant to what I said so I'm not too concerned about the duplication. I'll take it at face value that the point of the tags is for a database and am happy to add my contribution.
