this may seem an odd question on the surface, but they've proven some animals seem to respond to sound, like milk production in cows.. do any of your pets seem to be fond of a certain type of music or artist when you play it? i used to have a ragdoll cat who always ran in the room if you played led zeppelin (his favorite) my russian blue seems to like pantera, and my black cat has decided marilyn manson is for him.he is currently purring to "smells like children". how about your pets?

Well I've never particularly noticed any of my cats taking notice of one specfic band or type of music, but they do like me singing to them!!! I remember my Mum used to sing all these daft Russian folksongs to our cats and dogs when I was small, and I've kind of started doing it too - as well as making up my own words to popular songs for them. When Lily was in the Hospital for so long, I used to go and visit her and sing to her in her cage - she seemed to like it, though all the Vets and Nurses always made a quick exit, as I admit I have a dreadful singing voice! Perhaps cats are tone deaf? LOL!

aww:) i would say lily's opinion matters most- the sound of mommy's voice is music to her :) how is she doing today btw?

Well she's getting there thanks for asking. Had a bit of a setback on Wednesday - she somehow managed to chew through her bandages - yes even with the collar on (!), - and damaged the skin graft, - so had to rush her back to emergency for check-up, just in case the damage was too serious. Luckily, the Vets say it was only superficial, so she is back home with a new collar (LOL!) and an even bigger bandage!!! Problem is - we have to undo the bandages twice a day to put ointment on her leg to lubricate the graft, and then do them up again - and she really hates all the manhandling because the leg is still painful:-(( My partner has so many scratches on his hands from trying to hold her while I do the procedure - but we know she doesn't mean it, so just have to persevere!

oh bad girl. my calico did that with her stitches once- we took her to get them out,and the vet said "too late, she's done it already herself". i couldn't believe she did that LOL

I have heard of this, particularly in relation to cows & music. I haven't noticed any connection between my cats & music, but I should test it out. My cockatiel, seems to love music. He starts up with his loud shrieking & other odd sounds when their is music, especially loud music.

The biggest reaction I get from my 3 cats and a dog is when I sing. They all bolt from the room howling followed by my wife and kids funnily enough....I wonder what that could possibly mean.

Marilyn Manson huh? Does your cat dig the new album? I don't... hrm. My cat watches tv more often than I think he pays attention to music. I remember once I was listening to something and he jumped up on my lap though, I wish I could remember what it was because he is NOT a lap cat. I'll have to listen to some things to see what he likes.

I think my two babes have gotten so used to my playing music, any kind, that they don't pay attention to it...signing is another matter...I do love to sign around the house and I notice there are a few songs that seem to attract the attention of my one cat Kissy..especially that song from the end of Return of The King..."Into The West"---she'll come running over to me everytime I sing it..beginning to wonder though...is it a sign she likes me singing it, or is she trying to tell me to shut up!! LOL

Your black cat likes Marlyn Manson? That is hilarious! I havn't noticed that my pets like any particular music, although the younger dog will get a bit wild when it is turned up past a certain loudness.

I don't play music very often and so far I haven't noticed any of them showing an interest if I do. I'll have to start playing more stuff just to see what they do if anything
