i click on the check mail button even though i checked a minute ago, why

I use Firefox. In one tab I open mylot and the other tab my gmail account. Gmail itself refreshes pages when anew mail comes. And I filtered with label mylot in my mailbox to readily recognise that someone has started a discusssion or some response. It's really a habit to me.

I didn't use to do it very often but I'm doing it more often now. I have a granddaughte that has just got her own email and has been getting on quit often and asking me if I'm on or gone for a walk. Any way I go to the email to check to see if she has sent any thing. I don''t want to have her waiting too long

I do this a lot, as I like to be able to answer discussions quickly when I am home. I also have friends I hear from, and my daughter. I do not necessarily regard this as a bad habit, just a habit, neither good nor bad. It lets me keep up with deleting the junk and connecting with my friends.

I have instant notice, so as soon as I get an email it flashes at me. But before that I was constantly going back and forth checking.

You are not alone lol. I open all the e mail accounts I have first thing in the morning and leave them open all day the ones I use are all self auto so I can see when a new mail comes in.
