That was my habit when I was still young. But as the years passed by I have learned to control and stop doing it. Right now there are some moment that I still do it specially whenever I am tense and nervous, but I immediately stop it whenever I realized doing it again. About the nervous disorder, well I have no idea about it, thank you for bringing it up.

hello sentihil2k, its true that many have the habit of biting nails.but it looks really bad and dirty and sometimes its irritating too.thankfully i have never developed this habit and wish never to.i like keeping them long and shaped.that way my nails look beautiful.my bf had this bad habit and thank god i have finally succeeded in getting rid of this habit. i think its also unhygienic to do so.our nails contain lots of dirt and grime, unless they are well groomed, and can lead to diseases and infection.we should have atleast the knowledge of elementary cleanliness and not to bite nails is definitely included in it.

ohhh i forgot to write about the nervous disorder part.i haven't known about this till now.i believe that those who get nervous or tensed or stressed due to some reasons, they have this habit of biting nails.so far haven't seen anybody developing the disorder.but i am surely gonna ask about this to my mom.she is a doc.

I don't think that habit causes nervous disorders but on the contrary it's the stress that makes us bite the finger nails. I don't bite them but I bite the skin around them.

I never use to bite my finger nails but I have caught myself doing it a lot lately. It seems that they are weaker than when I was younger and they break easier so when they break I usually bite the broken part off. Ew and yes I know it is disgusting habit. I never heard that it will cause a nervous diorder though that is interesting.

Hello Senthil2k! I'm guilty of bitting my nails cause their long and soft but they are clean of coarse! I haven't heard that bitting your nails will cause nervous disorder but if it does well.. I would stop. Have a nice day!^_^

I used to bite my nails, but I decided that I was going to stop, and I was able to do so. I wanted to have pretty nails for a specific event, so that was my motivation. That was almost 3 years ago now.

Oh, of course not, which is really not a good habit, unsanitary, but others do see a movement, I feel he is very cute.
