Do you think it's our job to protect our moms from bad news?

Parents bring us into the world, and most times do an amazing job of shielding us from life's difficulties. So, should we do the same for them? Should we protect our parents from bad news?
If you found out that you only had a short time to live, would you tell your mom? Or, let her enjoy the rest of your days without worry and sadness? Would you let your mom know about your financial difficulties? Or, tell her that you'd lost your job?

I always try not to show my problems to my mother. She is a depressed woman and I don't want to stress her more but it's also very difficult for me because sometimes I really wanted her support and I have to seek for it with other friends and relatives.

Hmm..honestly speaking I think it would depend on the general well being of our mom, if you think that your mom can take a news like that then I think you should tell her and let her be your strength in times of trouble. But if your mother has her worries to deal with, like if she has a frail heart or health then I think you should tell her some of the news but not the real extent of it, just enough for her to know that there is some kind of problem, coz I know that she will worry even more if you say that there is nothing wrong, mother's are weird that way, call it mother's intuition, they know when something's going on.

I think I would let my parents know about my problem. I don't want to hide it from my parents. They are the ones who support and comfort me. I will discuss with them what to do next.
