I started a discussion asking help for my daughters baby bunny she had taken in. She named him Scarface due to the white line on his face. Sadly this cute little creature passed away in my daughters hands last night. Her kids cried but know that Scarface is in a better place. I wish to thank all that really provided some great useful info on helping to raise a wild bunny. Thanks each and eveyone. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

that's so sad. but things like that have to happen sometimes. its the circle of life. just be happy that scarface spent the short life that he had with people who cared for and loved him :) and yes, he's in a better place ;)

OMGOSH. I am so sorry. I was hoping this story would have a happy ending. It could be that scarface was just too little to live without his mom. Now scarface is in bunny heaven.

Oh, I am so sorry about the baby bunny. I missed the discussion about you guys taking in the little rabbit, but I am sur eit already found a place in your family's hearts. Even if you don't have them very long it is a sad thing to lose an animal in your care. I am sorry for your loss of Scarface!

Oh, I'm sure they were sad. She was taking such good care of it. I'm glad she was holding it so it probably wasn't scared and felt her closeness.

How sad. Poor liotlle thing. I guess he was too young to loose his Mother, who was already ill. Sometimes even stress can kill baby rabbits. At least your daughter knows she tried. Its is good for the kids if they make a little cross or mmorial where it was buried. My daughter always did this when she lost a pet. It helped her deal with it.

I hadn't responded to your other discussion on caring for a wild bunny because I had absolutely no idea of what to do. But I did read it, and I was rooting for the little guy. I am so sorry that he didn't make it. I feel bad for your daughter and her kids, but you're right....Scarface is in a much better place where he is happy.

That's a pretty tough time. Any loss is bad but how we remember them. Scarface is a different type of name given to a bunny, which was nice to hear the reasons behind it buddy. Kudos, ~Joey

My daughters rescued two wild bunnies last summer. It took a lot of work to hand feed the bunnies every three hours. Then they opened their eyes. They got bigger and started eating solid food. We had to get a bigger cage for them. We researched on the web of what to do and when to do it. We learned a lot from them. One of the things we have learned is that most bunnies that are born wild and then raised with humans can not be turned back out into nature as they most likely will not survive. They have learned to be dependant on humans for water and food. We named ours Miracle and Hopper. One of them is very calm but the other one is not. We are sure we have two females. Two males can not be raised together in the same cage as they will harm each other. If we had one female and one male, we would have baby bunnies by now and we don't. The ladies at the feed store are amazed that our bunnies have survived this long. It is very unusual to have wild bunnies survive in captivity. Scarface came into your life and spent a very special time with you. Treasure those moments forever.

I'm sorry things turned out this way, Grandpa Bob. Sorry too, for your daughter, grandsons, and all concerned. I hate to see animals abandoned etc., but am glad that you all tried your best to save him/her. It shows great compassion on everyone's part.

May he rest in peace. I guess we cannot save every living creature. It is a good but hard leaning lesson for the kids.
