I'm home alone tonight for dinner. So I thought I'd make myself a healthy salad. I chop up my tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, I even cooked some boneless chicken to toss in the salad. I mix everything together, open a new bottle of my favorite Ranch dressing. I go to slowly pour some dressing on my salad and...BLOB... the dressing comes pouring out really fast and drenches my salad. Has that ever happened to you? I have to start buying the dressing that comes with the squirt type bottle.

Yes this happens to me all the time. it's like a big waste of salad dressing. That is a good idea to put it into a squirt bottle that way so much doesn't pour all out at one time.

..hey that's a good idea.. I usually just scoop it up with a little dessert spoon and spoon it right back into the ole bottle.. waste not, want not, ya know.. though it is irritating to have to go for the spoon and all that before I can enjoy my salad.

Yes I do hate it when that happens! Recently my son was pouring out ranch dressing to dip his carrots in when the squirt thingy came out of the bottle and drenched his carrots. He was a bit annoyed! Understandably?

Oh I am so sorry that you got a big blob of dressing in your salad. Can you mix it enough to where it won't be that awful to eat? I have done it, but not a HUGE blob....or if I do get a huge blob I do it soon enough at the beginning where I can mix it in and be okay.

Oh me too. I feel like it's such a waste and had to get another one made and make sure that I pour it over carefully.(slowly)

haha it happens to me some of the time, usually when I am in a rush to add the dressing and forget that it comes out in blobs LOL I might have to invest in those spritzers or spray ones too.

I do hate when that happens. I did something similar yesterday morning as I went to sprinkle powdered sugar on our strawberry waffles and the lid fell off dumping a cupful of sugar on the waffle. As the salads go, I fixed the problem by pouring my dressing into a small bowl and dipping my salad into the dressing.

I hate that. I like dressing but when my lettuce can swim it's to much.

Oh I do hate when that happens! I buy the O'Charlie's ranch dressing - it's my favorite - and it's in a glass jar with a big open mouth on it. I do this quite often the first couple of times I use it. I try to be careful but sometimes it still comes out too much...

All the time- so I scoop it out with a spoon into the sink- but still it drenches the salad and it tastes funny- I have switched- but even so at times I squeeze it to hard and I get the plastic part and the dressing- : ( I hope you were still able to enjoy your dinner.

Stuff like that always seems to happen to me. either too much salad dressing, or too much salt will come out of the shaker.

I know exactly know what you mean!!! Just last week i had the same thing happen to me. Luckily i wasnt alone and my oldest daughter decided that she would like to have some salad too so i put some more stuff to it and mixed it all up and that helped. I have yet to come across a brand of dressing that uses the squirt top for ranch. Even the plastic ones that i get from time to time dont have the squiter in it. So if you know of any or come across any please let me know. LOL

It's happened to me a few times before and it never happens when you are making an 'ok' meal. It's always when you are making something you are really looking forward to eating! I was eating a salad once and I wanted to sprinkle some crushed red pepper on it, just to give a little zing. Well, I didn't put the shaker piece that lets just a few red pepper flakes out back on very well, and the whole darn jar fell into my salad!

I like lots of dressing so that wouldn't have bothered me =) But I totally know what you mean, I went to pour some on a plate one day and it ended up going ALL over my plate...my husband kept making fun of me for putting so much on...I just wasn't paying attention and it all seemed to come out =)

I hate that too...and you must have the same tastes as I love Ranch dressing...I was looking at those spray kind of dressings...thing is, they're so expensive!! They about twice as much in cost and the bottles are even smaller than the regular type of dressings

I have had that happens to me a couple of times. It is very annoying. Since having children I now put our salad dressing in to squirt bottles. Like the kind you put ketchup and mustard in to. This makes it easier for the children to judge how much dressing to use. It also saves you from incidents of having a blob drop on to your salad.

It can tend to be a problem, and it is annoying. I also hate that when it happens to me. Sometimes I will just put the dressing in a bowl first. It makes it much easier that way.

Sorry you had to go through this and what later happened, did you eat the salad? I think you were a bit in a hurry to eat the salad and this made you to pour your dressing faster than normal. The remedy you have choosen now is ok.

Hi friend, If such a occasion come on my life, at the present condition no doubt i will go to any restaurant for dinner. Its have no meaning that i hate cooking.. But to eat tasty food.. Then in the case of salad... I daily prepare it for dinner in my home. It have no too much risk. All are available as ready made. And we want to only arrange it. I prepare it by slicing the tomato roundly, and some onion also roundly, carrot, cucumbers and also put some cabbage. And pour some lemon tear all around it. And around the whole kept some green vegetable leaf just for show. But here no flesh of animal put on it. Now i got an idea about it. Today for dinner a prepare a new salad. Thank you dear for sharing this with us.....
