Finding Love Online

Sunset At Haunted Lake - Just another daily sunset on the acreage.

At my age I never would have considered finding someone so perfectly suited for me on the Internet BUT I did just that, at my daughter's suggestion. Has anyone found their soul mate online like we did? I joined an online dating service and found Jordan after only 2 weeks, while it took 7 months of searching the service for him to find me. I was living in the city while he lived on the lake in the country. We met, saw each other EVERYDAY, and after only one month, I moved in with him out in the boonies. I've always wanted exactly what I have now. An acreage with a horse, greenhouse, wildlife, the Lake, privacy, and the list goes on. We have daily sunsets to die for right in our own back yard. The pic attached to this discussion was actually taken last night. I would love to hear some success/romantic stories from those of you out there who want to share their bliss with all of us as to any online dating experiences.

Her wods are very true. It happens at a different time, place, reason, etc. for everyone. Be openminded and keep your chin up. When the time is right for each person, it will just happen.

to be honest..it's really not that easy.. i had several online relationships that failed before i finally found my true love. in my case, it took heartaches and pain before i met my man.. i really really love him so much. well, as a matter of fact he is sitting right next to me now and i can see it in his eyes that he really does love me as well. dont worry you will find your true love.. just dont be afraid to get hurt.. ^_^

Everyone meets their soul mate at a different age or a different part in their lives. Jordan and I know we will be together for the rest of our lives but only met in our early 40's. He's 45 and I'm 42. We talked in the beginning about how it kinda sucks that it took so long for us to find each other but we came to an agreement that it's not lost time. We both needed to experience other people and things first in order to be ready for each other when we did finally meet. We plan to do whatever is necessary to spend a long time to come, together. The online dating service where we met was 'Plenty Of Fish'.

I wasn't looking for anyone. I had been in a bad marriage and then when he left me for one of my friends I lived for 2 year hating the ground that men in general walked on. I assumed they were all the same dogs and pigs (sorry guys!) My best friend (since highschool) Rob bugged me and bugged me and bugged me to get a guy not to have a relationship but just to.... you know. Now you don't know my friend Rob but he is what I would call a "man hoe" he likes his women (well he did because he finally settled down) but he was all about the one night stands. He didn't think i was normal because I hadn't "done it" since my husband left. Nor did I feel inclined to. Finally one night he was at my house and he jumped on my computer and made me a "profile" on this one dating site. I got a bunch of replies but never messaged anyone. I did begin posting on the sites forum though because some of the topics were interesting. I changed my profile so that no body would message me thinking I would date them because I still wasn't looking. In the forum of this dating site I posted a thread and this guy replied. He seemed to be interesting and intelligent so I messaged him just out of intrigue and friendship. We ended up emailing and then talking on the phone. Within I would say 2 weeks I knew something was up between us. Well we aren't hitched yet as he lives in the USA and I live in Canada but we visit each other almost every 2 weeks. We talk on the phone all the tiome communicate over msn and mylots. I love him to pieces and feel as though we have always known each other. Even from the first day that we met face to face it was as though we had known each other for years and just hadn't seen eachother for awhile. I have never felt that instantly attached to someone. We do plan on living together and marrying each other but it will take time as the process for me to become a legal resident of the USA will take awhile. Also I do want to maintain my Canadian citizenship because I love my country. In December it will be 2 years and it hasn't lost that love struck feeling! I hope that it never does. As a side note my friend Rob met his wife on that site and they have been married. He lives in Virginia now with her and they ahve a beautiful Daughter with another baby on the way. He has eyes for no other woman (finally lol!).

I met my husband online on a dating service. I'm not sure how long each of us was a member before we found each other but the wierd thing is we grew up in the same town, went to the same highschool, knew many of the same people, but had never actually met before. We talked online and on the phone for a short while (I had moved to the nearest city), he came to visit me after about 2 weeks of talking and never left, we moved back to our home town after about a month of him living with me in the city, we were engaged by the next Christmas and married that summer.

I met my partner online :-) i did meet a couple of absolute creeps on the way, but my partner is a qualified builder, architect and talented artist. I am a writer. So we get on really well. Also we are both "Turner" people, which helps! I don't know whether we are romantic, as we fight like cat and dog quite frequently, but then I suppose artistic temperament will out!

When I was single loads of people said about trying these dating sites.... but I could never bring myself to do it! I felt silly. I know a few people that are happy with the person they have met on the internet. I'm happy in a relationship now and I didn't meet them on the internet but I have heard so many good stories - congratulations to you! :0)

But then again, isn't always there the typecast amongst friends that you couldn't make it in the real world, that you had to resort to online dating? It's cruel but it's true!

You folks were Speedy Gonzales compared to Liz and I. We met online in 1995 (her in DC, me in the SF Bay Area)--and actually were really not looking for a date. We became good friends even as each of us dated a few other people. In 1997 I flew out and met her parents and we had our first date. Things did not go well with me and her folks, but we decided to still give this a shot. Later in 1997 she enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh and I moved out here (not livng together but in the same city at least) in 1998. We dated for several years---then I bought a house in 2006 and she moved in--- and her parents declared peace. I asked her to marry me on March 21st and we'll be married on October 6th!

Yeah, things did happen pretty fast for us and Jordan has always been concerned about my comfort level and retaining my independence. It was fast indeed!

I met my hubby on the beginning 1999, He's in US and I'm in Indonesia. After email, chat, and a lot of international calls, he came and visit me, ask my hand and we got married. Now we've been married almost 8 years! back then it's only yahoo personal. Not really like an online dating service. Sooo, thank you Yahoo!

Online dating, huh? I can't say that i have consciously gone out to meet someone online for dating, but i have met a few in my time, and have only been satisfied 1/3 off the time. the other two times were such a disappointment because they were not who they made themselves out to be. But i can hope, can't i? Especially with more and more beautiful women picking up a computer and going online! =D

Yep, my hubby and i met online. We both joined something kinda like eharmony, and i emailed him, we started talking. After a couple months of talking my parents and sister went with me to meet him (i was only 18). We continued dating for a year, then got engaged, a year later were married and now five years later here we are happily married with our daughter. I was one of those people who said i would never never date anyone i found online. I was only looking for a friend--and see what happened? I ate my own words.

Your stories have touched my soul. Maybe there's someone for me. I've been telling myself I'm too selfish to share my space with someone else. I'd have to give up too much. Maybe that's a sour grapes attitude. I'm thinking. Maybe -- just maybe -- I'll meet someone. We'll be good friends. And if we fall in love -- we'll let it happen. I love mylot. Reading your posts expands my possibility thinking.

Yeah it is not that easy to found the perfect person online. Internet is place where all sort of peoples are there and picking Mr. right is real difficult job. Those who found person they are real lucky and those who are in search be careful and Best wishes for them.

I was, founbd someone whom I thought was special to me. But I guess it was the shortest and most worst experience that ever occured to me, found out that the girl was just a CHEAT. I never thought that it would end, as I didn't expect that since she always try to tell everyone (even the world) how happy she was with me. I did the best I could to let her know how much I do care for her too, even dedicated most of my time with and ignoring the things that I used to do back then. But I am happy for you, because you're one proof to all those who are still hesitant to find some of their preffered partners in life!;)

I met my boyfriend on plentyoffish.com after seaching for six months...I almost passed up his add because he is 6 years younger then me, but something made me backtrack and send an email to him anyway...he sent me an email with his phone number...then me being a lady sent mine to him...he called me and I instantly knew he was the one I've been searching for my whole life. Two weeks later he gave me a ring!! I will be waiting to be certain before getting married...but I don't see much point because he is perfect, but I don't want to freak out my children...they already think it's creepy and weird that he gave me a ring already...they just don't know how overwhelming this strong connection is. My honey is a country boy also and wants to move us to the country when his father starts his own business, I'm ready to pack!!
