Question to Wiccans or anyone else similar

Ok this question is to Wiccans or anyone else that practices magik (I spelled it like that to differenciate from the kind of magic you go see in Vegas or something). So it is going to be a few questions sorry. What kind of spells to you cast? What kind of guidelines do you live with (things like first do no harm or whatever)? Since you began practicing; has your life improved or stayed the same or gotten worse? I am NOT asking to start a debate. I am honestly just curious. I studied wicca so I was just wondering. I promise I will not try to convert you or anything!

I am not Wiccan (I have learned what Wicca is thanks to some myltters about a month ago). But I love all religions and specially the ones that use magik (I didn't know about that spel, thanks for the explanation). I specially like afro-cuban ones, maybe because I was born there, or maybe because they are simply fascinant. I don't practice any actually, but I have experienced the goodness that is around all this.

Thank you for the information. I have studied/practiced wicca so it isn't quite what I am looking for. I want answers from people who are in myLot and what they do/believe. Thank you anyway. I do appreciate you taking the time to research!!

I am not a wiccan I am not a pagan. I am roman catholic. But I do believe all words spoken with intention have power. I believe the work of Dr. Emoto proves this. http://hado.net Now, I know that his "water work" has nothing to do with the discussion here. I only mean to point out that we can call it "spell" or "prayer" or whatever.. . .words spoken with intention have power. . . . . .am I sounding like Abraham here??? In the end all that's good is good, whatever we call it. And for the record, I will only use "words" for good.

Yes, you are right--words spoken with intention is the basic principle behind all incantations (spoken spells). Yeah, the results of that water work is amazing. Considering that human being are mostly water, imagine what effect being angry at someone has. I imagine harm to both parties (you and them). So to me, it is on-topic.

I cast any kind of spell necessary, if I believe I can do it. Guidelines for my life or magick? For life I mainly live by the code of chivalry -- the kind Knights lived by, not being polite to everyone..though yeah, I do that too. Magick..I only do something if I believe its in the right, if I believe I can do it, and while trying not to stretch the laws that makes magick work too much. I will hurt someone in self defence or to retaliate against hostility. I try not to do that too much, but I can be pushed to that point. My life has always been one chaotic chapter to the next with a decent scattering of happiness in peace (though no, not nearly enough) in between. I have grown much happier with myself and my life..regardless how crappy it gets, and I'd like to think I've gotten a little more wisdom than I had before I started practicing magick. So..better? It depends how you look at it. Worse? Likewise. And no..it's not the same as it used to be, thankfully.

First off, I'm not a Wiccan, I'm a Traditional Witch, so this is a bit different from the standard perspective. I always spell it Magic myself. hehe. my guidelines are simple. if it is not true, don't say it. if it is not right, don't do it. I don't agree with the Rede, or with the idea od threefold return on actions. what I beleive is that we all have to answer to ourselves. every action we do has a consequence, and we will have to look at what we did and say to ourselves "I did the right thing" if you don't think you can honestly say it is right, you shouldn't be doing it. most of my spells are for protection. of myself, of the ones I love, of my home and the things I own. some are when I need a new job, or for healing, or even for a parking space, at times. this will sometimes result in a car right near us pulling out. hehe. in the event that someone deliberately harmed someone I love, safe to say I'd do everything I can to stop them and to give them a taste of their own medicine. it's hard to say if my life has improved, seeing as I was born and raised in a Pagan family. so of course things are harder now than they were when I was about 4 or 5, which is about when I started practicing Magic myself. so yeah. for me, my little spells and workings are just something I can do. some people will cross their fingers, some pray, I'll have a moment to focus and direct energy to something I want to happen.

I'm Pagan but there are some Wiccan similarities to my practices & beliefs. At one time, when it was still relatively new to me; I often cast spells. I do believe in the not harming others & working for 'what's best' in a situation which may or may not match what I want. I found that I had pretty good results, of course whatever I was working towards with spells I would also be working towards in other ways- I think casting a spell or putting your energy into your wants just sort of gives it a little boost into happening- kwim? Having been on this path for about 15 years now, I am not quite as "into" spells & magik as I once was. I believe in it, I know the strength of it, and I no longer need to prove it's validity to myself or to anyone else for that matter. I still believe what I believed then. I often use positive affirmations when there is something in my world I wish to change, which is in a sense also working with energy & imprinting your subconscience with what you hope for. It's also not much different from Christian's using prayer when they want guidance or emotional strength. When I observe a holiday or partake of a moon ritual I may also cast a more formal spell, usually it is geared at long term goals I have set. As far as the impact on my life, I like my life if that helps answer the question. It (paganism) is my spirituality. I find comfort in it, understanding for the world around me & strength in it. I believe I have been blessed in my life, but I also believe that I work hard for those blessings. I guess that's an area where I see Paganism & Christianity being different. It seems Christians tend to think all positive in their lives are gifts from God (despite the work they do to achieve them) and all negatives in their lives are proof of their short-comings or of the devil's work. As a Pagan I believe that the good & the bad in my life is my responsibility & that I have the power to change it.

I don't do a lot of spells. Any spells done, they are most often for guidance or to help another. I believe in the 'an harm none'. This rule is very important in so many areas from physical to even emotional. I also believe that things happen for a reason. Some people get caught up in spells as a crutch and use spells to try to get them out of things that they are not happy with. However, I believe that we all have a path to take and bumps in the road we must experience. Without those bumps, we would be different people.

I consider myself 'pagan', but more than anything I believe in my own power to think positively and therefore attract positive things and people into my life. I think once I began to take responsibility for my lessons and gifts, my life definitely improved. I burn sage, do tarot and astrology, and put my intentions out there in the universe, but the 'laws' I follow are simple... you get what you give, live and let live, be kind to strangers for they are you, and love is all there is.

I'm not Wiccan, but I am Pagan so I'm throwing in my two cents. I cast whatever I need to cast. I don't believe in the black/white divide so I don't label my craft as such. My guidelines are that we are all parts of the web. Everythign i do sends out ripples that affect others. it is up to me to decide if I am willing to accept the responsibility of whatever I do. I feel that my life has changed for the better since I accepted my path. I feel more secure in my actions, more confident in myself, and more connected to the world around me. I feel like I can understand more now, the natural cycles of life and history, than I did before.

Earlier in my magical career, I did a lot of spells. I got over it. LOL. I learned that the rule "Be careful what you wish for" is worth taking into consideration. Especially now that I have got to the stage where I have to be careful of my emotions and mood; the universe tends to mirror my thoughts.

I'm an interfaith Wiccan. My spells are cast for my personal enlightenment and growth. I don't really agree with attempts in influence others' actions (other than in a protective spell for my family) or events in general. Que sera, sera. I do try to live by the Wiccan Rede and the Rule of Three, along with my own personal 13 goals. The Golden Rule always applies, as do the Commandments. I'm going to break almost all of these at least once, but intention counts, lol. There is definitely power in spoken word, but more in the sung word, so when I'm working any magick, I do try to speak or chant to infuse my words with more power. It's so important to prepare yourself before any workings or prayers by cleansing, purifying, meditating, and mentally going to the place where you're ready to commune with the Unnamed One. It's a sacred event and we need to realize that and start acting like it again. Do you know the elaborate rituals the ancients underwent in order to prepare for the communion with their gods and goddesses? It's amazing. How can we not? I figure he deserves at least that respect. Blessed Be
