I am trying to save up for a Trip to Japan but considering I only get 9 hours a week this is gonna be near impossible to do, so as a result I am gonna have to ask for more hours. Anyone know the best way to go about this or what to ask e.t.c?

Let your boss know that if anyone ever calls out sick or goes on vacation then you will be willing to do their shift. This will impress your boss especially if you actually show up. Also ask your boss if there is anyway you could get more hours. You could also ask if there are any positions opening up anytime soon. That is just a couple of suggestions from me. If none of that works out, have you considered looking for another job????

Yeah I have thought about another Job. I'd just rather try to get more hours first without going through the whole application thing again. Plus if i change Jobs ill be back on probation and earn a dollar an hour less than usual for three months.

I am the direct type, I would go to the boss, and I would simply ask. I see that others have suggested that you offer to cover other shifts or ill coworkers, and these are excellent suggestions. The less picky you are about shifts the more you will be called. I would also look at the time I was planning my trip, and invest anything I can put aside in a moneymarket, or anything else that pays some decent interest. I have, for instance, kept my payout at $10 on myLot, it then goes to Pay Pal, which pays 5 percent or more interest, much better than my bank, and not as tempting to use. Look for other paying sites here online that will also pay into Pay Pal and you will have a good amount building up. I am not quite so ambitious as you, I only want an airline ticket to Minnesota.

One way is to put a notice up in the staff room stating your name and contact details, and offer to cover peoples shifts that they cant do. Plus talk to the manager and say that if someone phones in sick can he/she phone you first to see if you can come instead. Hope this has helped.
