Well I did. I never dated my husband before we got married. I knew him less then two months. We needed something the other could give us. I needed to feel safe bc I had been raped. He needed a home where no one would drink beer. That was it. We talked with each other and promised each other we would never get a divorce. We have fought hard for our marrage. This month on the 8th we had our 22 anniv. We don't know when we began to love each other. Just like in the book : Love Comes Softly, our love for each other came softly and one day we just knew. We were in love.

Your story is wonderful and an insperation. I knew my husband for about three months and we got married. We both vowed that if we had children we would not divorce, since we both came from broken homes. I hope we can like you have keep our marrige together. It is hard work at times but always worth the effort. I love him dearly.

That's a great story that you told about yourself. It used to be very common that marriages were arranged and, often, the couple didn't know each other at all, or only through what their parents have said about the other. A lot of the time, the couple will grow to love each other in the end.

That must have been amazing and an inspiration for your children too. The place where I come from marriages are usually arranged. This is changing with time but still atleast 50% of marriages ar arranged. The couple in most cases do not know each other at all or do not know each other well. There is hardly any concept of dating as according to our culture it is not good. Still we have a very less ratio of divorce compared to the west. Anyway I was amazed to come across your story and wish you and your family all the best.

Congratulations also on 22 years. Seems things worked for the best in this situation. I was with my wife for 5 years before we married. We celebrated 29 years of marriage on April 13th this year. I celebrated 16 years of sobriety and clean on April 6th this year also. This was my first and only marriage as well as my wifes. I don't think I could have married her after only two months though. HAHAHA!!
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Thanks Bob. Wow that is wonderful. 29 years married and 16 sober. Cool. The part I didn't tell was that when I met Ed he was in treatment to get sober. I was a nurseing student. LOL Everyone just knew we wouldn't make it. Showes what they know. LOL Ed has not had 1 drink in 22 years.

That is wonderful that you have been married 22 yrs and started the way you did. You and your husband must have a wonderful relationship. I don't think that I could get married to a stranger, but obviously it works if both have a mutual respect for the other. Congrats on your anniversary.
