How many of you work with stupid people who should be fired???

I am just wondering how many people out there work with these people who seem to never know their job, when to shut up, when to go away, and when enough is enough. I work with one of those people and he really makes me mad.He can't seem to do his job or know what his job is, even though he has been told repeatedly what his job is and what not to do. My boss has watched the video tapes from our store so she knows about what all he does and doesn't do, but yet he still has a job. This is completely driving me nuts that he has even been told he could lose his job, but yet he still can't do the job he is hired for. I almost live at work, 6-13 hours a day. So, I have to work with him, and have a migraine by the time I go home. I have a very low tollerance to stupid people. So, many of you have this same problem, and how do you deal with them?

Hello Dragonprincess, Cheers to you for bringing up a topic of the utmost importance- cuz girl I know I CAN'T STAND STUPIDITY in the office!!!! My supervisor has got to be the stupidist in the world. She has held this job for over 20 years and still can't put together a professional looking letter- which is the least of our duties here running a large non-profit organization- I have done a coupld things to try and combat this- such as NOT delegating work to the stupid ones- and just plain ignoring them. My boss, like yours- knows about the stupidity and does nothing as well- so I know how you feel!!!

My coworker does practically nothing other than check her email and buy stuff on ebay for her church. I, on the other hand, can't even look at my computer or my boss is "finding something for me to do". Doesn't matter that 75% of the work I do for the company is on the computer. Yes, it irritates me.

Just because he dosnt know his job dosnt make him stupid, maby it is a task he dosnt understand and needs extra help with.Just because it comes easy to you dosnt mean its as easy for the next guy.Maby someone should take the extra time to help the person so they can understand better. And maby your boss is trying to give him some extra time to see if he can catch on.

His job is to stand behind a register and take care of customers. Enstead he is out side running around talking to friends, thinking he can tell me what to do, Taking food and not paying for it, and not keeping things clean.

I do, I do!! I work with idiots on a daily basis. This one girl I work with is my age, 23 and she is our computer tech guy's daughter. She is a freakin moron and all she does is surf the web all day long. She talks about getting drunk almost 50% of the time and she never wants to learn anything else besides the basics. I have this other person I work with who is 78 years old and she is the biggest moron of them all. I am not even kidding you when I say that she spend 75% of her day on the telephone. She talks to her kids on a daily basis and she will sometimes just sit there and stare at her computer screen. When she isn't here her job is done within an hour by my manager,so no one can figure out how she makes her job last 8 hours a day. The woman has the most annoying voice in the world and she makes these huge problems out of nothing. UGH, she just ticks me off like you wouldn't believe. My manager has told me several times that she wants to buy this woman out, but she won't budge. Its so frusturating working with people that shouldn't be there!!

Over the last 10 years, we've had a few of those in the place I work now. Course one I even interviewed and said the guy needed some serious help to make it in this environs... My managers have taken the philosophy that they will just make them bored and feel bad until they leave on their own, unless they collossally screw up. Im imagineing this being because of one such termination the person sued the hell out of us, even when we had evidence that they were stealing computer equipment.

My boss' philosophy is to over work them and they will get tired of it and quit. The problem with that is that he never really works hard and evades what he needs to do which makes the rest of us work harder.

I think I can be considered one of those people who don't know when to shut up or when enough is enough. I think just about everyone has those times. Some people are more sensitive about people talking than others. But, I feel that I know what my job is. I know there are other people who constantly need to be reminded and it really doesn't bother me all that much. Some people are just slow at learning or get confused because they are asked to do work that isn't part of their job. The people I think should be tired are those that do nothing all day. They surf the 'net, talk on the phone with personal calls, and take long breaks. They don't even try. Or, they have an unprofessional attitude. I often wonder how those people manage to keep a job.

Fortunately, right now, that doesn't happen with me. We have two employees, me and the owner. Well, a receptionist, but she's ok in that front. But, I have worked places like that and plenty of my husbands co-workers are like that. It drives him crazy!!! He has even been told to change someones review because he put bad comments on it - that were true! His way of handling it - he's building a home-business so he can quit and be his own boss!!!

My mom works with someone like that. She's very close to her boss.. She's 50 some odd years old, and still thinks she's 20. It drives me nuts, the stories I hear. She gets very jealous when people talk to the boss and she's even criticised others. She actually goes out of her way to get others fired when she doesn't like them. I think she's extremely rude, and rather annoying. It's sad, really. I'm sorry you're stuck in a situation like that. I think it's that way everywhere though, you're always gonna have atleast one person you wanna kick in the shins for one reason or another.

I have worked with stupid people that should have been fired in the past. I am not sure why they keep their jobs, but they are able to. I guess it is because they do the bare minimum to keep that job.

Your boss has to go through proper procedures and have evidence of any wrong before he can actually fire this person. Maybe you will get lucky and he will quit!

I am very fortunate to be able to make my living at home as a writer. This means I don't have to work in the company of other people...except for my boyfriend's son playing games at the next computer with the sound off, so that doesn't bother me at all. I know people who have worked with idiots before, and that's why I'm glad I don't have a "real job," as my mother calls it.

I work with my indirect superior and he is not the ultimate boss who bring in his personal businesses to work. Every colleague was frustrated with him because instead of bringing customers, he bring in his personal issues and we can't do anything. We have to respect him just because he is our superior.

I think you need to take a chill pill and realize that half of all people are below average. Think about that. Let it sink in. That means half of the people that posted in this thread are the stupid people...

well I believe that stupid people are everywhere. However, we need to tolerate them and dont get too affected coz it'll make your life soo miserable. However, I completely agree with you that there are those that need to be fired coz they dont know what they are doing. :)
