The following link is to the Killeen Daily Herald newspaper in
Killeen, Texas. The news article is in regards to our troops coming home from Iraq. I personally am thrilled. Our son had told us he would be home for Christmas. Now that is confirmed. According to this article, several troops are coming home and will not be extended an additional 3 months. Our son is in the 1st Cavalry Division. He has served for seven years. We are looking forward to his homecoming.

I am so happy for you. I bet you are beyond thrilled. It will be a truly great homecoming. I am sure there will be many people that will be overjoyed at the fact their family is coming home. Especially after such long tours of duty. Again, I am very happy for you, and make sure you thank your son greatly on my & my families behalf for serving our country. I will always be greatly indebted to him and others like him. :)

That is wonderful, but only if they actually do it. My brother who served in Iraq once already was told many times they were coming home, and it didn't happen. Now he's home and instead of retirement at 44 that he has planned on, they are sending him back in Oct. If he doesn't go, he losses alot of his benifits. Not fair.

Oh I hope that your brother's unit has a change and does not re-deploy. If they do re-deploy, I pray they have a quiet tour of duty and return home safely. I can not imagine what you and your family are going through. The military life is very hard on the families.

I am so glad .I really love to hear stories about soldiers coming home.it's nice to hear they are coming home because they are supposed to come home and not because they are being killed. SEven years! Wow! Is he planning on staying in the military?Since your son is in the military, you might want to check out a discussion i did awhile ago.I think it was entitled "Americans are Idolizing the Wrong People"

He was supposed to be discharged last August. His unit was put on a Stop Loss and re-deployed, and then they were extended. I will take a look at your discussion when I get back from town.
