James Stewart aka George Bailey was such a great role in It's a Wonderful Life. He is so believable in this role. He makes you laugh and cry and want to save him when he thinks life isn't worth living. This classic movie has many great actors. Who is your favorite?

No dispute. James Stewart is my favorite in It's a Wonderful Life. I can't watch this movie without crying. I saw some shows about the behind the scenes of the film and also read some Stewart biographies, and it makes the film all the more endearing. For instance, the scene where he's in the bar just before he is punched out by the teacher's husband he reamed out over the phone took just one take. When the studio filmed that take, everyone was in tears. They kept that unadulterated version because Stewart was so real in that scene. One of the worst things I read about him is that he was a cheapskate in real life, but other than that, he was a gentleman and someone to admire.

This is my all-time favorite movie! I even have a tattoo that reads: "Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings." All of the characters were so rich in this movie, it's hard to pick one! I mean, other than George Bailey. I like Violet Bick because she has some great lines. "You like every boy.""What's wrong with that?""That's some dress!""This old thing? I only wear it when I don't care how I look!" And did you know that Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street's names were an homage to Bert the Cop and Ernie the Taxi Driver in IAWL? So awesome!

Thanks for posting. Mary sure was a wonderful wife and mother. Many say just like me; however, I don't want to brag with 2 grown daughters, who are successful today. I'm glad to see others have enjoyed the movie.
